[ MECHANICS ]

What communities do we use for posts?

The main community is going to be [community profile] plus_ultra and will be used for logs and network posts. [community profile] lowkeyultra will be the OOC community where you'll see announcements and player chatter and such. [community profile] abunchofquirks is the meme community for all your dumb fun needs.

What's the current IRL:Game Day ratio

1:1

What's the network?

While quirks have allowed technology to advance faster than ever, people still use many of the same avenues of communication we do now. Play it like a super popular message board like 2chan. Use personal character inboxes for texting purposes.

Can you explain ‘missions’?

Many questions about how to read the missions chart can be located on the first sheet labeled as ‘FAQ’, but we recently added this mechanic to encourage activity and ideas for players to explore of their own accord, without the explicit label of the activity being noted as “hero” or “villain” movement. This’ll allow you to explore the grey areas a little more and in the end, you can determine once it all plays out what you would take the points for (either Rank or Notoriety).

Can I decline the points?

You can, but we discourage it. If a villain does something over-the-top and makes a big scene, it’s hard to argue their notoriety in general will be low. They’re going to be looked at as a ‘Most Wanted’ regardless, so there’s no real benefit to declining it. Many Notoriety options will have a “0” option anyway.
For Heroes, it makes more sense for them to generally try to stay out of the public eye and ask not to be reported (i.e. Aizawa’s quirk is beneficial if people don’t know about him and his skills), however in some cases, a name or rumor is unavoidable if they act as heroes in the public eye.

[ QUIRKS ]

Does my character have to have a quirk?

Absolutely not! In fact, 20% of the world's population is lacking in one, so if you want to play the quirkless character, you're welcomed to it. But bear in mind that characters are not being transplanted from their original worlds and still require an AU background.

You are also welcomed to play a character that has a quirk and is hiding it. Since some quirks don't always manifest in obvious ways, it's easy enough to say your character has hid it if you like.

What if my character has an ability in canon?

Build upon it! You don't have to get rid of it entirely, but we want to encourage expanding on its weaknesses and physical limitations. For example, a character can create explosions, but after awhile, their hands start to sustain a lot of damage and it becomes painful to execute.

Are there quirk-type limitations?

Besides what we ask of you on an individual level, we’re noticing from the workshops that a lot of quirks are incredibly similar in style, so if we start to notice that those quirks are coming in after a good handful have already been apped in, we are likely going to decline it. Elemental quirks are especially prone to being very same-y, so if you want to wield fire, please make it a creative method for doing so.

It is worth noting that elemental quirks are not very common in this world, but they aren’t out of the question.

My character needs a weapon/tool/costume piece for their quirk!

A lot of quirks do! Some quirks cannot be controlled absolutely (i.e. Kaminari Denki cannot just shoot someone with his electricity. He needs a tool to help guide it, and even then it requires precise placement.), but don’t fret! That is what the Support businesses are for! They create gadgets and other objects that help optimize quirks, or just make life easier and more convenient for those that have problematic mutations and so on. If they require a weapon, include it in their quirk profile.

[ CHARACTERS ]

Do you accept original characters (OCs)?

Sure do! And before you ask, the apps are treated the same, too.

Will there be a cast/ game cap?

None currently planned.

My character isn’t actually human!

For AU purposes, your character will now be a mutant. Hooray! All substances of their form are of this world, no matter how bizarre it seems, but that’s the fun part of the mutation quirk anyway! Just understand that everything can essentially be scientifically explained in some fashion or another, which is what allows us and other players’ characters to be able to determine a weakness, too. They’re welcome to bluff, though, but know most people aren’t going to buy it.

My character is a minor character.

Don’t sweat it. We accept OCs, so walking headcanons aren’t out of the question, either, but for the sake of other players in your canon, try to keep it as accurate as possible. (As accurate as you can be in an AU setting, anyway.)

I want to play a villain, but it's difficult to cause trouble as it becomes obvious OOCly.

And we totally get that. Our solution would be to place a request to run a player plot. It doesn't have to be big, but if your villain-type badass wants to start some fires or cause some weird earthquakes, the mods will have you covered! Once the idea is approved or reviewed/expanded upon in discussion, a mod can write up a post, run it by the player, then post it for people to react to. This way you don't ever have to reveal your motives and can ICly operate as a villain would.

What should I do if I want to app someone from the My Hero Academia series?

Unfortunately we will be declining apps from the canon series to avoid confusion in terms of timelines/canon points - especially with a series that is ongoing and only three or so years in. The other idea behind this move is to allow non-canon characters to flourish in this setting without the canon cast overwhelming it.

What if I want to app an AU version of an MHA character?

These will be declined as well.

What do we do if we pick up someone that was apped previously?

To make it less confusing for previous CR, there’s a rather weird situation happening in the area. People have been known to suddenly up and vanish and seem to return with little to no memories and completely different quirks—or no quirks at all.
It’s an epidemic that seems to take its roots in a villainous organization, but heroes and the police force alike are stumped as to narrowing down the source beyond a few thugs carrying quirk-cancelling bullets around. The effect is temporary in most cases, but some people are returning as completely new entities.
The other option is to pick up where someone previously left off. Same AU, with a history of CR. It’s a little more complicated but we won’t deny the option if the player is insistent.
That being said, dropped characters are fair game. Someone can pick up/reserve a dropped Non-OC character immediately if apps are open at that time. You relinquish your play rights to that character in PLUS ULTRA! if you submit the drop form unless you reach out to a mod right away to withdraw the drop.
Unless the creator of said OC is cool with you playing them. Then... by all means.

How do you treat canon point differences or different versions of character canons, i.e. a character coming from current timeline of the anime adaptation vs the manga version?
