Othello ☆ Kuroshitsuji

CHARACTER NAME: Othello
CANON: Kuroshitsuji
AGE/AU AGE: Around 27-30
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: N/A
OCCUPATION: Researcher at a university

PERSONALITY:

• Appears easygoing but can be quite harsh. He has nothing holding him back and will say things as is.
• He's a True Neutral and his only interest is science. As in, you can coax him to do whatever, good or bad, as long as there's something interesting for him.
• Once he becomes immersed in something, he will blab nonstop and/or not listen to a word you say. He also will stop paying attention to everything else, making him vulnerable to attacks and well... everything else.
• At first glance, he seems like a harmless nerd who gets overly excited about nerdy things, but mess with his work and you'll probably get to see another side of him.

HISTORY: (This is a very general idea and I would be okay to shift things around/add stuff!)

• Born and grown up in England.
• Has always been interested in science as long as he can remember. His main field is Biology, but he has a basic working knowledge in other fields as well. Has a PhD in Evolutionary Genetics. (Did both his Bachelor and PhD in the UK?)
• Did a postdoc fellowship in Japan for three years, then later recruited as a full-time researcher.
• He's sometimes asked to help with cases by the police — he's one of the best-skilled people in Japan in the field of Quirk Genetics, making him vital in some niche forensic investigations.
• I'm thinking that he either has helped the heroes/villains, or will be asked for help in the future. His main interests are Genetics and Experimental Evolution in quirks, which may be used for quirk copying/cloning, gene/quirk manipulation, etc... He has no sense of moral whatsoever so feel free to drag him for whatever ♡

NOTE: Looking for workmates and/or fellow scientists to geek together with! Or someone with an unusual quirk that he can be fascinated about, but of course 'normal' quirks would be completely cool too. Maybe you've met him as a sample or a test subject for an experiment before? Or maybe he's interviewed you for a study before? Friends from both the hero or the villain sides would be great as well! Maybe you live in the same apartment building and are concerned that he's almost never home? Or well, if you have any other CR ideas, do throw them at me!

QUIRK: Mind-reading, although he has almost never used it as it's more interesting for him to find things out on his own than using his quirk. Need to touch the person directly (skin to skin) to be able to read their minds. Can only sense surface thoughts, no subconscious thoughts/memories (yet?).
COSTUME: None! Although he pretty much always forgets to take off his lab coat so you'll see him in one more often than not.

asterios isn't too bright however he could have helped othello out with some experiments before and is someone who just. keeps coming back to help clean up the lab/move stuff around/whatever because what a nice man, he talks a lot and is kinda weird but that's all right?

Oh my god absolutely yes!!! Othello isn't very physically fit so he'll need all the help he can get! And if Asterios listens to his lab even better. Aaaa Asterios sounds like such a sweetheart tho!! And sorry but Othello will probably touch his horns with starry eyes upon first meeting...........

BUT YES he will teach you all the things. Perhaps too much things...

Excellent and also that is really cute aaaaaa!!!! I hope you don't mind him plucking your hair every now and then while he's being piggybacked?!? LMAO. And Othello will totally be more than excited to learn and tell Asterios more about his own powers!!!

I like the prereqs of the quirk as it can be very powerful once mastered, but is otherwise entertaining as is. Would this only apply to people, as weird a question as that is? Can those surface thoughts do any damage to him? Can it happen accidentally?

AHHH thanks for the input!!!

HMMMM he may be able to read other creatures' minds, but he'll read them as is — as in, if a cat thinks in meows then that's what he'll get (do cats think in meows??? I guess we'll find out). Also if someone is thinking in a language he doesn't understand, then he won't understand it either!

I'm thinking that he can't control his quirk (yet???) because he just... never uses it, so it's not practiced well. Which means it can happen accidentally, and which is why he'd usually wear gloves (+ long-sleeved shirt and trousers) to prevent accidental quirk use! As for damage, it doesn't do anything to either him nor the person he's touching, he just gets to "hear" the other person's thought inside his mind.

Also I'm thinking his quirk will be limited to only a number of people on a "first touch, first serve" basis... Perhaps even only one... I need to think of this further, hmm.
