Hello! I have a question about an occupation. In the premise it says we can choose our career as "heroes, rebel as villains, or study as students at the prestigious U.A. High", but is it possible to have a job outside those that would be related? The character I'm interested in is a scientist and if possible I would like him to be a researcher/professor at a normal, regular university, assisting the police/UA/villains/whoever asks him for help.

Or actually, is there a regular university at all in this world?

Thank you!

Hazama/Yuuki Terumi | BlazBlue

[personal profile] eargasmic 2017-04-25 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Hazama Honoka/ Yuuki Terumi
CANON: BlazBlue
AGE/AU AGE: Probably around 23-27. Gonna decide the exact one later.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: VILLAIN. Alias is probably "Dark Susanoo" or "Ouroboros". Again, gonna decide this later.
OCCUPATION: Although in paper he's working as a police, Hazama is Totally A Villain who doublecrosses the police side as he's working as an intel for his own/the villain team benefit.
PERSONALITY: I'll totally write my own later but gonna c/p shit from wiki for easier time:

Hazama maintains a calm and quiet demeanor around most people, pretending to be harmless as a member of the Intelligence Department. He claimed to hate fighting and preferred to avoid conflict. This, however, was simply a guise to his true nature. When people saw through it, he showed his true colors as selfish and manipulative; destroying other people's lives and twisting their beliefs for his own gain. He has no qualms with killing those who get in his way and shows absolutely no remorse for his actions.

Hazama takes every opportunity to upset others by mocking them, deliberately provoking them, or even bringing up and prodding at a sensitive topic; all for his own enjoyment. Even when he was on the losing side of a conflict, he would take the time to insult and taunt his foes.

Basically he's the most despicable villain without anything good in him. You'll hate him and even if you aren't, Hazama is going to make you hate him and he takes pride in that.

HISTORY: Everything is totally tentative. Totally up for changing and shifting his AU for anyone else who just want an annoyance in their life.

- Japan-born from a somewhat wealthy family as a sole child. His family was pretty much a misfit-- His father and mother always fought for reasons. Perhaps family problem or perhaps other shit, Hazama wasn't mature enough to understand it at that time.
- Mostly spent his early age copped inside his own room or in library/bookstrore reading detective mangas.
- On his early teen, he tried to stop them once, but they ended up hitting him on the head and that was Hazama's Start of Darkness. They hit him once, Hazama didn't act. Twice, Hazama cursed them secretly. Thrice? He had enough of that shit and ended up grabbing a kitchen knife and killed both of them.
- Instead of pissing his pants, Hazama laughed out loud and awakened his inner psycho. He then called police to report the accident, feigning his innocence and say that his parents were pair of nutjobs so Hazama got no punishment. At all.
- Realized at this point that people are idiots and such trick from a mystery manga actually saved his life from boredom.
- One of the higher-ups in the police dept. pitied the lonely kid and decided to take him as a son and thus, Hazama lived the rest of his life as a police intel.
- Unbeknownst to them, Hazama secretly went to the villain group just for the hell of it. Considering his position, most of the fellow polices didn't even consider this possiblity.
*Note: I would like to keep Hazama in the police as that backstabbing bastard who spread the police information to the villain group for at least one to two months, if possible. After that, I'm up for either fellow polices/heroes outing him out or Hazama himself pulled the big reveal.

QUIRK: Tying with Terumi's canon ability, I'll go with something like Memory Eater. It's actually a really simple quirk that works really well to his doubleagent job: This allow Hazama to read his target memory and thus should give him the upper hand in everything.

This, however, isn't as simple as it looks. There are a lot of limitation to this. First off, Hazama needs to channel his quirk first and it's really visible like a deer in highlight and hence so easy to evade in a fight. Assuming Hazama got enough time to channel it, there would be some creepy green ethereal blobs floating around that will proceed to bite (they don't give any physical wound, ironically. It doesn't even hurt!!) his target's head and then send the information directly to Hazama's brain. Second, the duration of the blobs' biting correlate to the amount of information that Hazama would get; let the ethereal snake bite your head for one second, the information that Hazama got is probably only the information of past ten seconds from his target's brain. Let him bite for the maximum duration -30 minutes- however (works really well for interrogation or whenever his target is enfeebled), Hazama can get whatever his target had in their mind for the past two months.

Lastly, the said blob is really weak so even if you were bitten by it, you can simply punch it away. This one is a really fatal flaw of his quirk especially in a combat, but hey, Hazama's probably gonna keep you busy with his knife if he were to use this.

COSTUME: Only happens after he revealed himself of siding with the villain side instead of the police but this is the villain Yuuki Terumi. The ethereal snakes that he use for his quirk is resting behind the yellow hood and if Hazama commanded it, it would slither away from beneath.

Saralegui | Kyou Kara Maou!

[personal profile] enthraller 2017-04-25 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Saralegui
CANON: Kyou Kara Maou!
AGE/AU AGE: 18
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Aliases are for people who intend to actually be recognized! AKA maybe I'll think of something later if word gets out and he actually needs one. Or people will just call him whatever and he'll be stuck with it, whoops.
OCCUPATION: By day, I'm thinking college student interning for a hero PR company. And by night, villain!

PERSONALITY: On the surface, Saralegui appears pleasant, charming and considerate. He's sociable and charismatic and tries to get along with everyone and maintain a sparkling reputation. Really, he's a manipulative little shit. He's ambitious, too clever for his own good, and deeply pragmatic. He's hyper-cautious when it comes to emotional vulnerabilities, yet delights in taking calculated risks where more straightforward physical dangers are involved. He isn't necessarily "evil", just primarily focused on his own goals and whatever he considers the greatest good to be. His methods are very "ends justify the means" and he's absolutely willing to sacrifice individuals to better serve the majority or just himself.

HISTORY: Saralegui's father was a famous hero back in his day who had a long and successful career before retiring and passing away of natural illness when Saralegui was 15. The man showed no interest in being a father, though, and for the most part just ignored his son and left the child's care to his uncle. His mother, meanwhile, has never been in the picture. As a result, Saralegui grew up feeling distinctly unwanted, and he craves attention and acknowledgement constantly.

Saralegui was a clever kid, though, and realized very early on that his quirk would never let him follow in his father's footsteps to let him surpass the man that way. It was too unsettling a power to be embraced by the general public, and the very public nature of a hero's work would mean that the whole world would figure out very quickly what he could do and how to counter it. So he kept his quirk a secret and played quirkless, aiming his ambitions elsewhere instead. He considered politics for a while but eventually decided to get into hero management and public relations instead.

He primarily uses his quirk to manipulate others, mostly common criminals, into doing his dirty work for him, and he's careful to keep his identity hidden and command anyone he uses to forget him in case they're captured. He maintains a comfortable lifestyle living off these activities and lets others believe he's supporting himself with his inheritance from his father while he works through college and establishes himself in his career. And occasionally, he arranges situations to draw attention to the heroes he's in charge of in his day job, or to subtly raise public opinion of heroes in general when they seem to be flagging a little.

QUIRK: Mind control via eye contact. He can command people to do whatever, place sleeper commands to be activated later, etc. Those with very strong willpower can resist commands that run extremely counter to their nature to some extent, but it takes a hell of a person to actually completely withstand them. However, he needs unimpeded eye contact for the initial command-ing. Even transparent materials will block it out, so it's pretty easy to completely disable him by just covering his eyes somehow or preventing him from taking off his glasses. He knows a quirk like his is a lot more effective if people aren't aware of it and on guard, so he pretends to be quirkless and is very careful when using his ability to keep the nature of it and its weaknesses a secret. As a side-effect of his quirk, his eyes are a very unnatural gold color and sensitive to light, so he usually wears tinted glasses to help hide the color and make light bearable.

COSTUME: He doesn't bother most of the time. But if he's out specifically doing villainous things he'll wear a hood and a mask that won't cover his eyes (think like a half-face ski mask) to help hide his identity.

SATOU | AJIN (cw for mentions of self harm)

[personal profile] blep 2017-04-25 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: samuel t. owen
CANON: ajin
AGE/AU AGE: i'm going to take an au guess at this and say his . . . very early sixties?? (??) late fifties at least????? no one know
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: sato
OCCUPATION: he'll probably lean more towards villain-like activities, but will not label himself as such! he'll even switch sides if he has to! he just wants to have . . . fun . . . with challenges. and destruction. and murder.
PERSONALITY:
* very calm, very chipper! it makes most people feel fairly comfortable around him.
* he's seemingly very trustworthy, and speaks to others with ease.
* he's so charming you just want to give him a hat for christmas every year.
* he encourages people to come talk to him if they're having any trouble! or maybe stop by at the arcade for a little gaming :)
* very calculating, logical, and most certainly creative!
* he's very, very deceptive and not that trustworthy at all..........
* foxy grandpa looking for a good time
* that being said! he adores challenges, and has a massive need to show people how good he is (which stems from his kid days and his apparent hero career cut short— but facing it, he never really cared about it, and figured out pretty early on that heroism was probably not the best outlet for His Needs). this leads to him being completely open with his plans (he live feeds his swat team massacre and publicly displays where and who he will strike next in canon, keeping to his schedule without any changes, and is very against spoilers from the opposing party).
• he can take his own life at the drop of a hat (haha), and has grown quite used to it, from fatally shooting himself to severing his own limbs. his pain threshold is very, very high because of this.
* he enjoys causing destruction, the act of killing, and is incapable of any empathy whatsoever. he's emotionally detached and cannot make meaningful connections with others— people are either categorized as pawns, challengers, or just the little turtles you have to jump on to get to princess peach.
* takes gaming to the next level, meaning, the world is his xbox and you npcs will make this run as exciting and fun as possible, right??

HISTORY: very rough draft, but here goes!:

* probably grew up in the United States! he's originally British/Chinese.
* was a little problematic as a kid. Torturing animals and feeling very not guilty about it.
* was presumably quirkless, but went to school, then went to super hero high school to be a "hero".
* to supplement his lack of quirk, he took to weaponry and became extremely efficient in an array of them, from guns (his favorites), to bombs, to blades, to his fists. the list goes on! if it causes damage, he probably knows about it.
* he was one of the highest graded students in his day, and that picked up both positive and negative attention.
* during his last year, he got expelled and had his license taken for purposely outing a joint student mission, one that killed dozens of peers, teachers, as well as himself-- where he finally discovered that he did have a quirk: regeneration (and it was the most exhilarating thing he ever did). the school kept the happening under wraps as to not soil the prestigious name, calling the mission an "incident that always had risks and happened, like all accidents".
* he got sent to a correction facility for a few years under said wraps. got let go earlier than initially planned for "outstanding cooperation".
* spent the rest of his years playing video games, collecting weaponry, getting back into shape and exploring his quirk. you know, just livin' life until he came to japan—! because of pac man.
* DOES REALLY SKEEVY THINGS like organ trafficking. his own organs.
* probably owns a pretty cool arcade in town as a kind old man that just asks you to call him mr. owen. no one knows he's the owner, but he's there a lot. his high scores are on every single game please try and beat him
* he's keeping an eye out on young and old minds alike that have destructive potential to stir shit up for his own amusement, calling it something cool to attract attention but won't really care about any of it (to be announced!!!)
* bros he just wants the whole world to be call of duty and he's player 1.

QUIRK: i'll be taking his canon abilities and building a tad up on it!!

Sato's quirk would take on the form of "rapid regeneration": Sato's body is capable of producing an unknown substance that's solid yet completely translucent. Consider our body's cells in any living organism: naturally, we're all capable of regeneration, albeit at different levels and speeds. The scarring process takes about two weeks to cycle, sometimes longer depending on the wound, and normally, anything like losing a limb or a big chunk of healthy flesh is fatal to most. We'll die of blood loss before our body could even begin to notice that we need to heal— and if we don't die, we don't grow our limbs back if we were to ever lose them.

That's where "rapid regeneration" comes in. Essentially, if Sato's body takes on enough damage, he'll die as anyone else— the difference being is that the black particles his body creates will heal his wounds and replace nutrients as soon as he kicks the bucket, resuscitating him to a healthy state anywhere between a few seconds to a few minutes (depending on the damage taken). Severed limbs will be pulled back to the body and reattached if close enough, and if too far away, they'll regenerate whatever is needed to the largest part of the body present (for example: if Sato threw himself into wood chipper with his hand being the only body part left miles away, the rest of his body would begin to regenerate around that severed hand). If there's a physical blockade blocking a severed limb from growing back when he dies, the regenerated one will disintegrate what's in the way to make room for the healthy limb (example: Sato severs his arm and presses it against a door without a knob from the outside; when he resets, his limb will regenerate through the door, leaving a hole for his arm to go through).

It probably only isn't considered "immortality" here because Sato still ages and continues to age, physically speaking. If he's injured, he won't heal until he "dies", so any damage taken before that could still hinder him. He can't be forcefully killed and stay that way, but that doesn't make him completely immune to death at least some point in his life. Perhaps he'll live much longer than the average human, but that won't stop his body from aging as he does at some point as well.

These black particles are only visible to its user, or to people that have a very large amount of adrenaline circulating in their systems (in moments of extreme stress or fear, for example).

The black particles can create a form that's directly connected to Sato and vice versa, making it so that Sato himself has some control of it— It's this guy here, a "ghost" with lizard like features that mimics Sato's core personality, capable of superhuman feats such as slashing, crushing, biting and stabbing with claws and jaws. It also has a habit of repeating words that Sato's previously spoken. When created, Sato can see through it, speak through it, but it can and will work independently, doing what it feels is right to benefit itself and automatically, benefit Sato. If Sato is incapacitated for example, Sato's ghost would not be above inflicting damage to him to "reset".

One major weakness over the black particles is rainy weather, artificial or not. It makes the connection with the black ghost similar to a faulty phone call, making it difficult to maintain a link without it disappearing. Another weak spot is the Black Ghost's head; striking the head will disconnect the link it has with Sato and make it disintegrate. If its head collides with another Black Ghost in canon, blips of memory are shared between two Ajin— for this AU's case, we can make it so that any head collision can cause memory sharing and destruction of the ghost.

Black Ghosts also have a time and quantity limit per day, all depending on its concentration. Sato can create around, say, two to three ghosts per day, able to maintain one between 15 to 20 minutes.

Lastly, if Sato is successfully tranquilized (without him resetting himself right before or cutting off limbs), whether chemically or through other quirks, it would stop him right then and there. His Black Ghost can manifest and wreck its havoc for him if it's done before that, so keeping him under isn't a sure way to incapacitate him for good, a mix of all weaknesses being the best bet.

COSTUME: grandpa mario, the costume. spoiler: it's what he wears every day. maybe a change in hat color depending on the mood. would mostly consist of straps and bags to hold his artillery!

Shino Aburame | Naruto | warning for potential body horror/bugs

[personal profile] shinobee 2017-04-25 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Shino Aburame
CANON: Naruto (Konoha Hiden)
AGE/AU AGE: 19. This is still up in the air, I'm thinking either this, or his later canon point in his late 20s - early 30s when he's an established academy teacher.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Shinobee, the bug ninja hero Symbio, the Human Hive.
OCCUPATION: Teacher-in-training/teaching assistant at UA.
PERSONALITY:
  • Quiet. He's easily forgotten because he doesn't speak out and often fades into the background.
  • Gets real salty when forgotten and afraid of being left behind. Why? Because the opinion of others matters to him greatly, and he thinks highly of his friends and comrades. He takes pride in being attentive to his friends and acting as a silent support. If they forget his existence or forget to invite them to his things, he's deeply hurt and holds grudges forever. He's a sensitive soul.
  • Despite appearing stoic, he's very passionate about his bonds with others and has respect for all walks of life. Even the smallest insect has a purpose. Extremely protective over his bugs.
  • Matter-of-fact to the point of ridiculousness. He's a nitpicker; he speaks in a peculiar fashion, stating things that could usually go unsaid, or repeating sentences before answering them. He loves this "Why? Because ____" structure.

    HISTORY:
  • Little Shino didn't have many friends. When you're a host for a couple thousand bugs, the other kids tend to give you a large berth. That wasn't a problem for Shino – he didn't exactly distance himself, but he didn't attempt to reach out to anyone either when he could communicate with insects instead.
  • Grew up in Japan. He comes from a long line of heroes with insect quirks, so he never ventured outside of that bubble of acceptance.
  • It's only until he's accepted into the hero department at UA does he learn what it means to make meaningful bonds. It's the first time he's had to work together with others to such a degree, co-operating on missions and training and putting his life in someone else’s hands. It's the first time he's allowed others to get under his skin, have them probe around, and perhaps to his surprise, find acceptance in them.
  • Upon graduating from UA, Shino had been concerned he would be left behind by his classmates. Many of them had been accepted into pro-hero agencies, or split up to pursue their own individual paths. His graduating class wouldn't be together every day. Eventually, Shino reflects that his classmates all grew up into admirable heroes, and decides to help foster the next generation of heroes to be as great as they had been. Currently, he's a teacher-in-training at the school that gave so much to him.
  • Kids kinda think he's lame and don't.. really... listen. He's long winded when it comes to teaching theory. Working on that.
  • Other than his passion for GUIDING THE HEROES OF TOMORROW, Shino has an interest in the different applications of insects – especially for heroism. He can be often called upon during certain investigations for his knowledge of forensic entomology. He can estimate the time of death, extract poisons, and command his insects to enter a corpse and examine it further.

This is definitely up for changes. If anyone was interested in being in his graduating class or a friend, let's talk!

    QUIRK: Symbiosis.

    [ warning for potential body horror/bugs ]

An ability to communicate with insects via pheromones. Shino's body acts as a host for a species of beetle (kikaichu): in exchange for shelter, the insects within his body have agreed to cooperate with him to perform certain tasks for combat/reconnaissance.

Shino makes it a habit to disperse a number of kikaichu around him, moving outwards in every direction. Whenever they detect a foreign body within the perimeter he’s set, they’re able to communicate to nearby insects and form a relay to convey the information back to Shino. This means they don’t need to physically fly all the way back to him. Insects are capable of very complex communication!

Using this method, Shino's range of detection highly varies depending on how many insects he's scattered out, and their density. His range is only limited by how many bugs he has. Also it's flexible, as he can change the shape or direction of them too. When he’s expecting a fight he draws his insects closer towards him so they’re more readily available to swarm an enemy.

His speciality lies in search and rescue, but his quirk and head for strategy enable him to utilise his insects for combat too. As "chakra" doesn't exactly exist here, instead of draining life energy, his insects manually burrow into his opponent's skin or enter through any orifices and rupture things with sheer numbers. The insects are also able to excrete a substance to "stitch" up skin temporarily when they burrow back into their host's body.

One major disadvantage of his quirk is that kikaichu and Shino have formed an obligate symbiotic relationship. Over time, the insects have formed such a close relationship with his body that if all of them died and were removed, his own organs will collapse. His quirk is only as useful as the type and number of bugs that are in his vicinity.

COSTUME: Loose fitting clothes (long jackets with a hood) to allow easy access for his insects. Clothing covers his entire body, but these days at least he's not hiding his face behind a tall collar. He's always wearing a pair of shades, or goggles, or a weird cyclops visor. NO ONE HAS SEEN HIS EYES.

    LET'S SCIENCE

    Cain | Starfighter

    [personal profile] roughlove 2017-04-25 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
    CHARACTER NAME: Alexei Ivanov
    CANON: Starfighter
    AGE/AU AGE: 22
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Cain
OCCUPATION: (anti)Hero in the police Special Assault Team

PERSONALITY: Cain is mouthy, crass, abrasive, vicious, and immensely cocky. One of the hyper-aggressive types who'd more typically wash into the gutter of criminality, it's difficult to see how or why he wound up in civil service. Underneath his prickly surface, he's got an intense chip on his shoulder about coming from a rough upbringing, and is very motivated to prove himself. He's got an extreme case of 'us vs. them' mentality, and if you can squeak past his intense judgement and into the inner circle of his confidence, he's... got obvious soft spots. Protective, forthright, and legitimately concerned (in his own rough way) with the well being of his friends

HISTORY: Cain was a younger son in a large family living rough on the outskirts of a rusted-out failed industrial hub. Once he discovered his quirk in his teens, he signed up with a police incentive program to groom younger quirked individuals for public and military service, pairing individuals into teams for the duration of training. He graduated this program relatively recently and joined the SAT rather than the military so that he could have a more stable schedule and be able to visit home regularly. I'd be open to exploring someone making up the other half of that duo!

QUIRK: A little undecided here. I'm considering something that's a cheeky nod at his canon like 'gets stronger and more invulnerable the more times he achieves sexual climax; but the inverse is also true', or else a combat-superpower that's tied to his emotional connection with his teammate(s).

COSTUME: Black jumpsuit with armored panels and a high-impact helmet theoretically capable of taking severe abuse. With an optional leather jacket bearing his alias across his shoulders, because he's a vain motherfucker.

    Othello ☆ Kuroshitsuji

    [personal profile] licorice 2017-04-25 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
    CHARACTER NAME: Othello
    CANON: Kuroshitsuji
    AGE/AU AGE: Around 27-30
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: N/A
    OCCUPATION: Researcher at a university

    PERSONALITY:
    • Appears easygoing but can be quite harsh. He has nothing holding him back and will say things as is.
    • He's a True Neutral and his only interest is science. As in, you can coax him to do whatever, good or bad, as long as there's something interesting for him.
    • Once he becomes immersed in something, he will blab nonstop and/or not listen to a word you say. He also will stop paying attention to everything else, making him vulnerable to attacks and well... everything else.
    • At first glance, he seems like a harmless nerd who gets overly excited about nerdy things, but mess with his work and you'll probably get to see another side of him.
HISTORY: (This is a very general idea and I would be okay to shift things around/add stuff!)
    • Born and grown up in England.
    • Has always been interested in science as long as he can remember. His main field is Biology, but he has a basic working knowledge in other fields as well. Has a PhD in Evolutionary Genetics. (Did both his Bachelor and PhD in the UK?)
    • Did a postdoc fellowship in Japan for three years, then later recruited as a full-time researcher.
    • He's sometimes asked to help with cases by the police — he's one of the best-skilled people in Japan in the field of Quirk Genetics, making him vital in some niche forensic investigations.
    • I'm thinking that he either has helped the heroes/villains, or will be asked for help in the future. His main interests are Genetics and Experimental Evolution in quirks, which may be used for quirk copying/cloning, gene/quirk manipulation, etc... He has no sense of moral whatsoever so feel free to drag him for whatever ♡

NOTE: Looking for workmates and/or fellow scientists to geek together with! Or someone with an unusual quirk that he can be fascinated about, but of course 'normal' quirks would be completely cool too. Maybe you've met him as a sample or a test subject for an experiment before? Or maybe he's interviewed you for a study before? Friends from both the hero or the villain sides would be great as well! Maybe you live in the same apartment building and are concerned that he's almost never home? Or well, if you have any other CR ideas, do throw them at me!
QUIRK: Mind-reading, although he has almost never used it as it's more interesting for him to find things out on his own than using his quirk. Need to touch the person directly (skin to skin) to be able to read their minds. Can only sense surface thoughts, no subconscious thoughts/memories (yet?).
COSTUME: None! Although he pretty much always forgets to take off his lab coat so you'll see him in one more often than not.

Hey! So Dave here canonically time travels and I'm not sure how to best translate that into a quirk, between the general way quirks seem to work and the fact that timey shit can be hard to manage in an rp setting. I was wondering to what extent something in that vein might be allowed? I know actual time traveling is probably a stretch but maybe smaller scale stuff like localized timestops would be feasible?

It does help a bit! I might have to think on this some more, though. His role has always been very active so I'm not sure something he can't really use on the fly or incorporate into a more physical fight would suit him.

    [personal profile] turntex 2017-04-25 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's less an issue of the potential weakness and more that it seems like a difficult ability to directly weaponize, which is thematically his Thing. That and it feels too close to just seeing the past/future which is, thematically, kind of his sister's Thing and thus kind of weird to apply to him. But it's cool, I'll come up with something!

    CANON: Fate/Grand Order
AGE/AU AGE: 16, for his AU age!
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: The Minotaur
    OCCUPATION: Student, hero class.
    PERSONALITY:
-soft-spoken. he has trouble forming full sentences but he's coherent enough for people to understand him. because of this, he's very uncomfortable being in the spotlight
-gentle, especially with his quirk. he's concerned about hurting others and wants to have full control over his strength
    -polite almost to a fault
-a genuine do-gooder at heart who wants to make up for the misdeeds he's done in his childhood

    HISTORY:
( warning for mentions of child abuse)

-his father possessed a quirk while his mother did not
-seeing the ability to turn a quick profit, his father forced asterios to help him in acts of crime from a young age on. this involved robbing banks, taking hostages for ransom, etc. refusal would result in isolation and punishment.
-around 10 years old, asterios's parents were arrested on grounds of child neglect and abuse. he was relocated to a foster home, where he would adjust to a normal lifestyle
-wanting to leave his past behind, asterios is currently aiming to become the best hero he can be

    QUIRK:
    Mutation: Cretan Bull
A straightforward quirk that grants Asterios the ability to communicate with animals, as well as superhuman strength and endurance. Ordinary human strength cannot pierce his skin and he's able to lift up to five times his own weight.

Also he's. Got horns and is kinda huge, clocking in around 9'7".

COSTUME: He's got a cool minotaur mask and everything going on, check it outttttt

    Dave Strider | Homestuck

    [personal profile] turntex 2017-04-26 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
    CHARACTER NAME: Dave Strider
    CANON: Homestuck
    AGE/AU AGE: 16
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: If left entirely to his own devices it'd be something dumb and shitposty. But luckily hero school appears to let their classmates veto dumb ideas so he'll probably eventually settle on just "Stride" or something.
OCCUPATION: Student in the hero class.

PERSONALITY: Dave is a ridiculous trainwreck of a human being. He comes across as super aloof and cool at first glance but honestly, he's an awkward and needy loser. He never shuts up, oftentimes just rambling to himself if left unchecked, and he has a tendency to run with extended metaphors in bizarre, hilarious and sometimes vulgar ways. He has an extremely irreverent sense of humor, and he loves shitty art and good music. For all that he at times seems unaffected and frustratingly chill, he cares a lot about the peoples he's himself latched onto and will throw himself into the goddamn sun if he has to to protect them.

HISTORY: Dave was raised by his older brother, referred to exclusively as Bro, who worked as a vigilante hero and seemed to expect his little bro to do the same. Bro's child-rearing methods were sociopathic at best, and involved less actual caretaking and more mind games and brutal "training sessions" that more or less amounted to simple beatdowns. Dave idolized Bro and it took a few years after Bro's heroic death at the hands of a villain for Dave to come to terms with how straight-up abusive the whole situation was.

He has some lingering issues these days, most relevant being a struggle with the very idea of heroism. He feels compelled to help and protect people where he can but feels like he'll never live up to a hero like Bro, but part of him doesn't want to after Bro soured the concept for him. There are moments when the reality of what he's working towards as a student in the hero class makes him feel a little sick, but he's mostly trying to just do his own thing and do it the right way.

QUIRK: Still tossing a few ideas around but right now I'm leaning most towards Flashstepping: he can move at superspeed in short bursts, to the extent of leaving an afterimage when really pushing it. He can't maintain it for more than a second or two at a time, but when used tactically he can hit someone so fast they can't even see it coming, move in quick dashes to almost look like he's teleporting around, or even use the afterimage effect to confuse and disorient baddies. This drains his blood sugar levels like crazy, though, so he has to keep that shit in check or risk passing out. He prefers to do this with a lot of apple juice.

COSTUME: I will doodle something eventually, but I'm imagining something with extra protection for his knees and elbows and hands to make his fighting style (a clusterfuck of self-taught martial arts, ninja-esque shit, parkour, and something like breakdancing) a little less hard on the body, and pouches or something for emergency juice rations.

do you know how loud I laughed from the second I saw his name I BARELY GO HERE

Hazama being part of the police as a villain would be very intriguing and I'd really love to see what can be done with that from here. The villain request posts will be really great to utilize in this case.

I really like the requirements for this quirk and it's pretty sharp, but it's definitely going to require some level of a permissions post, so there may be an extra step to your game in that instance. Ultimately it sounds like to get the most information, he's going to have to knock his target out, yeah?

    I really love this!

wow this is a character I haven't seen in years, hi sara I remember you being gay in a coffin cause i only saw the anime ok

Okay so I love this quirk! And great use for his glasses and building on something he can canonically do already. Interestingly enough, Shinsou is a character in the series with a mind control ability and he requires a verbal response to his speech for his quirk to work, so I feel like this falls in a very similar vein so HOW COOL IS THAT

Is this quirk also an emitter quirk or can it happen unintentionally?

    gdit grandpa

I mostly think of the regeneration going to be needing far more nerfing because if you look at a character like Recovery Girl, for example, her quirk only amplifies a person's healing capacity but can kill the user if they're too injured for her to push the limit. Aging being his worst enemy doesn't really have any real feel of risk in an RP setting.

I think a lot of the quirk details are a bit too dependent on the source material and give Satou a touch too much strength in surviving, but the IBM portion reminds me a lot of Tokoyami so I feel like you could probably hold onto that portion of it and reconsider the regeneration capacity.

YES i read the MHA manga so i was super jazzed about shinsou mostly because "ah yes this totally validates the AU i was already building in my head, thank you for canon examples of mind control quirks"

but i'm considering this an emitter quirk, no code geass style accidental mind control disasters here thank you very much.

BUT OH MY GOD he'd be so good for search and rescue purposes but now I'm horrified at the structure of his abilities in this AU

go party with meat-senpai or something
