[personal profile] what_a 2017-06-22 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Kyle Hyde
CANON: Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Last Window: The Secret of Cape West
AGE/AU AGE: 34, but for the sake of keeping him established as a cop (and/or an ex-cop) longer I might push it to late 30s/early 40s.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: I DON'T... KNOW... I'll come back to this.
OCCUPATION: Either school staff or civilian... Vigilante? Both??

PERSONALITY:
- rude on first impressions. in most cases, second and third, too. he has made kids cry before just by being himself try him-- ...wait. no. please don't cry
- stubborn to a fault. once he sets his mind on something it's difficult to get him to change it.
- OLD AND TIRED OF YOUR SHIT (but don't tell anyone that he likes to help. please. his image can't take it)
- despite trying to act gruff and antisocial, he's a big softie. just don't admit it to his face. in spite of his horrible attitude and pretending like he absolutely does not care, he's still a very good listener and he goes out of his way to help folks.
-other people's problems often find their way to him. it'd be fine if he just left it at that, but his moral compass sort of makes him shove himself into issues if prompted, usually rudely, like "shut up, already, how can I help?"
- surprisingly level-headed for someone that acts so tough. when stuck in dangerous situations he's able to remain calm. ...or at least calmer than most people. when held at gunpoint he kind of just goes "oh. this again."
- MacGyver-level resourceful. he's really good at finding alternate solutions to problems. JUST... PICK THE LOCK WITH A COAT HANGER WIRE, DUH, EVERYONE THINKS OF THAT FIRST
- he's a big fan of puzzles/riddles. LIKE, HE'S NOT SMART. he's such an idiot, but he's good at lateral thinking. he'd probably get a kick out of Professor Layton-type games and that's a terrifying thought

HISTORY: UHHH I don't know what I'm doing. I'm very open to suggestions, because nothing's set in stone yet! come build a trainwreck with me
- His parents were civilians, but his father had a side hustle as a villain that was quickly starting to overshadow his day job. He was just a henchman for a crime syndicate named Nile: a bunch of mean people that liked to rob banks and steal priceless works of art. Real big fans of murdering anyone in their way. Their headquarters and leader are still a mystery. WHERE is all this money coming from, somebody stop them

- While Kyle was pretty young, his father died. He was doing one last job for Nile before he would attempt to break away from crime for the sake of his family, but was fatally wounded. As soon as she was able to his mother packed everything up and they moved as far away as they could get, to where some of the world's top Pro Heroes work and live.

- He didn't start out wanting to be a police officer, but when his quirk manifested in high school (YEAH HE WAS A LATE BLOOMER. YUK IT UP I DARE YOU) his mother finally told him his father's big secret. She didn't know who he worked for, just that he was a criminal that wanted a better life.

- Enrolled in a police academy fresh out of high school and eventually became a detective. He and the detective he was assigned to work with were very good at their jobs and life was good for a long time. After a ton of crimebusting Hyde and his partner started working on a case involving art thefts and mysterious deaths. Maybe Nile has extended their reach to Japan over the years, but if not then it's another big crime syndicate.

- His partner went undercover to investigate -- eventually DISASTER STRUCK. One Christmas Eve (listen. a constant across all universes is that Christmas is always awful for Hyde) he found out that the reason police were having such a hard time making arrests and finding evidence at crime scenes was because his partner had been feeding confidential police information to the criminals they were supposed to be looking into.

- The police still remain very quiet about what exactly happened to his partner and made Hyde leave the force (the story press received was that he's retiring early. too dangerous, health concerns, I haven't come up with a good "excuse" yet), but buried somewhere deep in official police files away from public knowledge, reports mention a shooting and/or an accident. His partner is presumed dead, but since their body never turned up after an intense search, Hyde believes they're still alive. After police gave up he resigned to start a search on his own terms. It's entirely possible that rumors are still flying around because a couple of some top detectives in the city just ghosted one day, but his lips are sealed. Now, years later, he's pretty much just a washed-up buzzkill. He's a member of UA's medical staff thanks to his quirk, but if that'll raise too many questions (like... you're not even a doctor. get OUT) or I go with a different one then I'm GOING CIVILIAN

- A maybe: Secretly, he's a member of a network that calls itself (literally) Red Crown, a small group of masked vigilantes that uses questionable methods (breaking and entering, roughing people up a little too much during questioning, etc.) to find missing objects. Kidnapped hostages, stolen goods, information kept under lock and key... Fugitives making more offenses than they are... You know, stuff Pro Heroes can't or won't look into because their hands are figuratively tied (or they just don't care). They turn findings in to the police or other city officials, and technically they're fighting the good fight, but without licenses (TOO MANY RULES!!!) they're just a bunch of thugs stealing crap. Being scouted into the group was sort of an accident, but it's one of the best (and only) options available for him to find any information that'll lead him to his ex-partner and/or anything he can dig up on Nile, so he's been sticking with it ever since.

- I was playing around with another idea that maybe in the years between turning in his badge and now, he somehow became someone's adoptive father (where's Mila in this au.......), so if you've got someone in need of the world's worst dad THAT MIGHT BE AN OPTION...?

QUIRK: I'm still brainstorming but I'm leaning towards the idea that Hyde has been "blessed" with a recovery quirk. It speeds along natural healing processes at the expense of both his own and the injured person's energy. Requires touch for the duration of recovery (grabbing a shoulder, handshakes, etc.). Skin contact is more effective, but like... Nah, dude, he's not going to touch your face unless something's REALLY wrong. Minor wounds just need something like a pinch on the arm that'll leave him and the recipient a little tired, but more serious injuries will require longer contact and rest. So, you know, maybe be more careful if you don't want to hold hands with somebody who's going to glare at you for an hour, then make sure the last words you hear before you drift off to sleep are "you dumbass."
Extreme injuries like re-attaching limbs are possible, but would require medical intervention anyway, both to mitigate the effects of overuse and because it would take hours (do you... really want to bleed out waiting for your arm to fuse back on instead of finding a hospital to help? probably not). It can take someone from "just woke up from a nap" to "if you don't sleep right now you are going to actually die" within a few hours. FINALLY, SLEEPING ON THE JOB IS ALMOST ACCEPTABLE It also doesn't work on himself. Bummer.

Another idea I had was some kind of object invisibility quirk that can make things seem to disappear with a flexible time limit (long for small/simple things, short for large/complex things) because he is always stealing stuff in canon but I haven't put more thought into it beyond that yet.

COSTUME: Probably none... But if I run with the Red Crown thing all I've got right now is that it's red (get it... because it's...... I'll let myself out) and that he wears a mask so far.
maybe it's some kind of uniform/same name thing just to keep them anonymous? Same costume, same name, authorities finally catch one but OHHH THAT'S NOT RED CROWN, THEY'RE OVER THERE, WAIT THERE'S RED CROWN, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE RED CROWN? it's so obnoxious, who's the ringleader of this shitshow

I LOVE THIS... I also would love to have this idea actually play out in the game, too. +_+

So the only thing to edit is quirk manifestation is, at the latest, about 4-5 years old, so it could be possible he didn't notice it existed nor did anyone else.

OTHERWISE YE WE COULD TALK ABOUT THIS MORE, TOO

CHARACTER NAME: Meta Kishino
CANON: Kirby
AGE/AU AGE: It's a mystery | 24
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Meta Knight
OCCUPATION: Hero | UA Weapons/Home Economics teacher in training
PERSONALITY:
☆Chivalrous - follows an old knight's code of honor, often offering small time villains and budding heroes a chance to be on equal footing with him.
☆Used to be highly aggressive, but has since mellowed out a bit, going from negative chill to a little chill. Still pretty strict in terms of training himself and others.
☆Tends to be more on the aloof side, often neglecting to explain himself.
☆Proud of his skills and accomplishments and a bit narcissistic in the looks department. Dislikes his really adorable baby face. Has a bad habit of standing on things to make himself seem taller than he actually is. Will actually leave a fight temporarily if his mask gets knocked off and he has no way of hiding his face.
☆Battle crazy at times. Never holds back while fighting, unless there is the possibility of casualties. Will jump into the fray without hesitation to help others.
☆Has a soft spot for those who work hard and those who have a strong sense of justice. Biggest weakness is children, and carries around candy for his younger fans and students.
☆Does his best to be patient and remain calm in situations. Backfires into aggression during battle.
☆A regular kuudere

HISTORY:
☆Meta studied sword fighting along with heroics because he really, really liked the knight ideal and aesthetic. He was mentored by another sword-wielding pro-hero before enrolling at U.A., eventually doing his internship with his mentor.
☆His mentor accidentally caused a major catastrophe with his quirk, but rather than turn himself in, he attempted to flee, but was caught and incarcerated. Meta has since vowed to be more honorable and in control of his own powers than his former master.
☆He graduated with few friends, being close enough to work with one of them in the pro-hero industry. He soon left due to differences in work ethic and ideals. He may or may not have tried to usurp power in that particular agency. Rumor has it he tried, but some little kid managed to stop him. When asked, he stares at the interviewer and says "No comment," before walking away dramatically.
☆Meta immediately started his own agency, the Meta-Knights, with other knight themed heroes and sidekicks. One of them is an android his support team is working on. His mask is on all of their vehicles, and they are all named after weapons.
☆Dissatisfied with the way the hero industry is working now, he decided to try to train to be a teacher at U.A. to educate the next generation of heroes the proper way to conduct themselves as heroes to the public.

QUIRK: Spacial Fold
Meta Knight can fold himself in space and transport himself immediately to a different spot, giving others the impression he his warping. He can chose a center point in the space around him and fold himself to the opposite side. However, his range is very limited. His longest single fold distance is 1 meter. Folding distances over 50cm gives him slight nausea that builds ups when used repeatedly similar to how Uraraka's quirk use affects her, and he cannot carry others while folding. Additionally, the space he wants to occupy and the trajectory between the two spaces has to be devoid of solid objects bigger than grains of sand, otherwise he will slam into it; he cannot fold through walls or bodies.

He also has a wing mutation, giving him bat-like wings on his back. They are too weak and small to get him off the ground, but he does manage to "fly" by repeatedly folding space upwards. He cannot sustain long "flight" because it will make him sick and he will vomit.

COSTUME: Probably something like this??

---

CHARACTER NAME: Kinako Nanobana
CANON: Inazuma Eleven
AGE/AU AGE: 13 in canon | 15-16 in AU
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Mocheese! (the exclamation point is included)
OCCUPATION: Student
PERSONALITY:
❀Generally very cheerful, and optimistic, but not blinded by hope as her genre contemporaries
❀Whimsical to the point of being straight up childish
❀Can be pretty nosy and gets into people's business, but usually if her business is affecting theirs (she once eavesdropped on a guy because he was feeling like she was replacing him on a team)
❀Is aware of how she acts, and will put of the act of being together during tense situations so other people don't worry when in fact, she's also maybe screaming inside
❀Commits faux pas in casual situations without meaning to (aforementioned eavesdropping). Tends to have zero filter.
❀Almost careless in her actions, choosing to do before thinking, unless there's a long term goal in mind.
❀Very caring, the mom friend (literally if her future husband ever traveled back in time to ask her to watch over his present and her future son, but what are the odds of that happening)
❀Will do anything to help people she cares about, and people in need

HISTORY:
❀Just an ordinary girl in superhero quirk society with no real aspirations and goals, other than maybe soccer
❀Was unintentionally dragged into a situation where the father of a small child begged her to help rescue him since there was no hero in sight, and she was pretty much the first one who rushed over. She ended up rescuing the child, and realized she could be a hero
❀Worked hard to get into U.A. and barely made it in. Has been winging it ever since.

QUIRK: Mochi
Kinako can create mochi from organic material, including her own body fat and tissue. She can also control the hardness and stickiness of the outer layer, though the inside will generally still be soft. She can also manipulate the shape to a degree, relying on plain ol' physics with the rest. With her mochi, she can grab things, swing around, or even trap villains in a similar vein to Spider-Man. However, like Spider-man's webs, it can still be cut very easily, even when hardened. It is also prone to mochi physics, and will burn and puff like regular mochi, or freeze and become unworkable.

The organic material that is not from her body has to be cut off from a living source. She cannot turn bugs or people into mochi, nor entire trees. Leaves that have fallen on the floor are fair game, as well as cut grass and hair. The mochi she creates also has a quick rot rate, breaking down within an hour, and it also tastes really, really nasty.

COSTUME: Rough version

A honorable (Meta)knight teacher?! Insert a starry-eyed smiley here.

(I actually really like both of your character ideas, whomever you decide to go with will be good. Yeah, not the most useful comment I know.)

CHARACTER NAME: Janga
CANON: Klonoa
AGE/AU AGE: Probably around mid 30s
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Poison Claws Janga
OCCUPATION: Villain
PERSONALITY:
- Foul-mouthed and Sly
- Thieving, Killing and getting away most of the time, will take any chances to survive, sometimes uses others to do dirty work, will turn your back on you the moment he sees there's no merit...
- Alcoholic apparently
- Intelligence goes in hand with his slyness, he will exploit any weaknesses he finds
- He's an asshole who has barely any pride as a person.

HISTORY: Not much of a history is mentioned in the actual games he's in... He used to be a low ranking hero tag teaming with a friend until he double-crosses him and kills him before taking off for the road of being a villain.

Now he's a villain for hire, mainly wanting society to flop with chaos, and will do anything to achieve that goal.

here's a wiki page

QUIRK: Cat
Mutation type quirk where he basically looks like a cat. So his quirk is just retaining his canon appearance.

Would he have cat-like habits? maybe.

Those claws you see on his official art are his weapons, which has strong poison painted on them that he created himself. It's a slow and painful death, so you don't need to worry about death. The only problem is that he brews his own poison so it will be tricky to create an antidote...unless you're a specialist on it.

COSTUME: He dresses like a hobo.

A teacher for a second character

[personal profile] dwordie 2017-06-25 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
So tossing out my idea for a second character out here. As a teacher, I probably won't be playing her as much as Maggie, but having some variety and a lighter breezier character is still nice.

Character Name: Sachya Hashimoto
Canon: Gravity Rush
Age: 24
Hero Alias: Raven (no, it doesn't have any deeper meaning, she just thought it sounded cool)
Occupation: Pro-hero turned history teacher, at least for now

Personality:
- Very happy to cultivate that cool, aloof, emotionless appeal. It's an important part of her image and brand as a hero.
- Pretty conscious of fashion to support it, even for civilian clothing. She doesn't go for classic pretty fashion, but for fashion that helps sell that appeal.
- Kind of a hipster, really.
- Fiercely competitive in most regards, even over surprisingly petty things or in cases when she really shouldn't be.
- Despite this, she's actually a nice, caring person, willing to let others win to make them feel better if she genuinely hurt them. Will also drop a contest if something important demands her attention.
- Is genuinely motivated by a desire to do right and help others. Any vanity about her image or desire to beat others goes out the window if it'd cause real harm, though she might be a bit slow on the uptake here. Still, it might come as a shock to people trying to bribe her or flatter her to get out of trouble.
- Is quick to anger at people abusing positions of power for their own benefit. Not quite a woman of the system at all costs.
- Any swagger, competitive instinct or similar is void the second serious fighting is afoot, in which case she becomes focused and direct.
- Actually quite emotional if people she cares about are in danger or about to do something stupid and she's likely to have her cool, collected facade shatter in that case. As much as possible she'll act like it didn't later, though.
- Can be pretty quiet when relaxed.
- Not much for domestic tasks or boring, repetitive work in general.
- As a history teacher, she's not much for either romanticizing the past or believing in the inevitable march of progress. History is messy and an approximation at best and what matters is what we do in the present to shape the futue anyway.
- An unreasonably big eater. Don't treat her to dinner unless you're willing to face the risks.

History:
- A single child from a pretty ordinary, unremarkable family.
- Except for being the kind of people to want their daughter to have a unique and meaningful name, giving her a variant spelling of a religious concept from Hinduism they didn't really understood.
- Joined UA as a hero course student and did quite well.
Became a sidekick after graduation, studying history on the side as a backup plan and because there's more to life than punching villains. Ideally speaking at least.
- Accepted a job offer from UA rather than open her own hero office. Less bureaucracy and still plenty of opportunity to actually help stop villains in practice. Besides, it might get her in touch with potential interns and future sidekicks.
- Has quite likely maintained a rivalry with a fellow student, sidekick and now teacher since they got accepted into UA almost a decade ago.

Quirk: Gravity shifting, a transformation quirk that despite the name involves changing mass, not messing directly with gravity. More specifically the quirk lets Raven increase or decrease her own mass. Decreasing her mass lets her jump unusually far and climb more easily, though at the expense of being able to brace herself worse and floatier, less precise movement in general. Increasing it makes it much harder to push her or move her, as well as letting her hit with far more force due to the increased mass behind it, at the cost of slower heavier movements as she needs to move a lot more herself without getting any stronger. Increasing her mass also risks breaking anything fragile she's standing on or pushing against.

To control this quirk and more generally fight, she's trained a lot and is in excellent physical shape to back it up. Even without using her quirk, she's a skilled unarmed fighter and a surprisingly strong, agile woman. When using it, she has managed a great deal of control, through its limitations, though she has by no means entirely overcome them.

Costume: Raven's quirk isn't one that can be easily enhanced through gadgets, so she hasn't even tried. Instead she's gone for a light one that's loose enough to not hamper her movements, but tight enough in the right places to not get caught on everything, at least with the exception of the aesthetic flourish of the sleeves.

Nothing much I see needing to change here! You answered my questions as I read along.

Potential teachers for a second character

[personal profile] oni_sama 2017-06-25 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Aku Himura.
CANON: OC.
AGE/AU AGE: 46.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: EmoDillo.
OCCUPATION: Retired-pro hero turned teacher or ex-cop turned teacher. Could teach information gathering classes and/or be a school counselor.
PERSONALITY:
- Zen-like calm.
- Doesn’t believe in extremes of viewpoints. Always willing to step into someone else's shoe.
- Ends up being a little disconnected from everything as a result.
- Despite his own willingness to look at others, surprisingly hard to coerce through trickery or guile. The strength of your argument and will matters more to him. Particularly because he can feel strong belief and other emotions.
- Tends to avoid very large crowds due to his quirk.

HISTORY:
- Born to parents with different quirks
- Father had an emotional resonance quirk, Mother had an armadillo mutation
- Is pretty small. Only a few inches taller than Nezu
- Spent most of his hero career doing investigation and infiltration.
- Retired from the pro hero scene/police scene, finding that sneaking into criminal dens, doing villain interrogations, and so on was not the most mentally stable of professions, even if he was a premier investigator.
- Worked closely with the police, has many friends and contacts.
- Took a teaching position at UA because he wanted to give back his experience.
- Has been known to be sympathetic to vigilantes as a result of his willingness to look at why others act.

QUIRK: As a small armadillo, he is naturally tough. He’s able to curl up into a small ball and roll away from his opponents. However his size and mutation gives him rather low offensive power, preferring to avoid combat altogether, or if forced into it, using traps, the environment, and his small size against his opponents.

What he really is known for is his keen perception and linkage of emotions. While in the heat of a battle against a strong willed opponent, it is not very useful (and can in fact act as a drawback for him), weaker willed individuals can suddenly feel their bloodlust drip away, usually being replaced with a calm melancholy.

How this quirk functions is that within a 50 foot radius, every emotion from any sentient being he not only senses, but feels a portion of it himself. What’s more, his own feelings (or someone else's that is powerful) gets transmitted to everyone else. Think of it like a web of emotions that all resonate and chime with each other. A particularly strong pulse is going to vibrate the rest of the strings. A dissonant vibration can oppose or even cancel out others. A number of vibrations in harmony make them all sing even louder with each other.

As a result, he’s learned to have intense willpower, making him a somewhat serene and zen like individual. But to many people can overwhelm even him. The absolute worst situation for him to be in would be a riot, where everyone's emotions run high and are all in harmony in one violent direction. Not only would he have trouble calming himself, he would amplify such a crowd. Sports festivals and other such events are also bad for him.

COSTUME: Still working on this, but since he is basically a small sneaky armadillo, something more subtle and possibly full of infiltration gadgets like grappling hooks, lock picks, etc. A possible Magneto like helmet to try and shut down his area effect quirk?

Additional notes: Where the heck do I find good Icons for this guy? Maybe some lizard man? Armadillo is actually a challenge. Additionally, I see this character as more of a challenge due to finding the right voice as well as having a slightly meta-gamey power. That being said, I feel less confident over poor Emodillo here.

----

CHARACTER NAME: Natsuko Omid
CANON: OC
AGE/AU AGE: 24
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Taiyohime (Sun-Princess)
OCCUPATION: Pro-hero turned teacher. Teaches law and ethics, particularly as it relates to heroes.
PERSONALITY:
- Strong conviction over her beliefs
- Otherwise, acts carefree and chipper.
- High energy, high positivity.
- Is actually a bit of a slob in her personal life
- Believes firmly in cooperation and communal achievement.
- Is unfortunately very competitive. Even with students if they challenge her.
- Tends to jump in to deal with problems under her own power rather then wait.
- Pride oozes out of her, a bit of a brag. Not really humble.
- Very much a do as I say, not as I do (Great for law, right?!)
- Ultimately wants people to have good and productive lives, no matter what future
- Is very concerned with public perception, not just of her, but of the system of heroes.
- Since All Might’s reveal, is more focused than ever that raising the next generation of heroes right is paramount, despite her own youth.

HISTORY:
- Born in London, England.
- Father was a police force captain who had a dog quirk mutation
- Mother was a somewhat famous hero from Japan at the time, Amaterasu, with a sun based quirk.
- Went to UA as an exchange student and fell in love with her mother's home country.
- Excelled at UA, was quick to rise up the hero ranks,
- Worked as a fairly famous sidekick while finishing a legal degree.
- Basked a bit in the fame, but donated much of her earnings to charity and helping victims, long term, of villain attacks or freak accidents.
- When the opportunity to start her own hero association or teach at UA came up, she chose to teach at UA
- Has a potential existing rivalry with another teacher that has been around since they were students at UA, into their sidekick careers, and now as teachers. (I am looking at you Raven and/or Metaknight :P)
- Has spent most of her life training her body, since heroes are to be an ideal. A master spear fighter and a practitioner of her own martial arts style that emphasizes swift and decisive strikes.

QUIRK: She inherited her father’s quirk only partially, a mutation that results in her smaller ears and her dinky tail, which only gives a small benefit in hearing and smell, along with a decent baseline physical ability, largely maintained by her focus on constantly training herself.

Instead, her mother's quirk was inherited much more strongly. It is the sun. When active her skin glows extremely brightly. She generates a large amount of heat and light. She can even glow brightly for a short period time like a second sun, but the drawback of that is the huge temperature spikes and blinding light to everyone else in the area. A risky quirk at high output quickly taught her the dangers of collateral damage, as using it for a medium length of time would dry and dehydrate friend and foe alike. Heatwaves are not fun!

As way to utilize the nature of the additional heat, she had a superhero outfit designed by the brilliant mind of a professor of hers at UA, Professor Tesla.

COSTUME: Her outfit and herself looks somewhat like this

The metal pieces with light around them collect the heat that she generates and allows her to shunt it in several places. Feet and legs for speed and kicking power, arms and elbows for a burst in punching and arm power, and in her spear to add an extra uumph when using it as a weapon or a tool. A bit like Bakugou but not explosive and more heat thrust. Her outfit still leaves a fair amount of skin exposed to be the bright Taiyohime that she is.

Additional Notes: I've got a pretty strong set of ideas for her icons. Also I feel much more confident about playing her (also, healthy rivalries!)

trulyworthit: (have you met my friendpillow?)

[personal profile] trulyworthit 2017-06-27 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
CHARACTER NAME: Luca Trulyworth
CANON: Ar Tonelico 2
AGE/AU AGE: 19
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: n/a
OCCUPATION: Non-U.A. Student, in-training to be a Quirk Counselor.
PERSONALITY:
✿ Bright and chipper, Luca's sort of "the girl next door." She's sweet, caring, and always ready to help or listen about a problem. Because of this, she sometimes ends up getting pulled into things that are really troublesome because she can't just say no.
✿ Luca cares a lot about her appearance. She can be a bit insecure and knows how important a first impression is. So she's the type of girl that you assume doesn't wear make-up but, instead, she just wears the perfect amount of make-up to look like that. Her therapy clothes are probably the most expensive thing she owns because of this importance given to first impressions.
✿ While she's easily flustered about things in regards to romance and relationships, she's extremely competent when it comes to her profession and any of the technology surrounding it. She's also studied the Quirks of Pro Heroes as a reference for helping kids and adults with their Quirks.
✿ A event in her past lead her to think of Quirks as a blessing and a curse. She views Villains as the result of a society that just doesn't know what to do with people that have dangerous or unusual Quirks. Because of this, she could be called a Villain Sympathizer, although she usually bites her tongue and doesn't say anything.
✿ An ideal world for Luca is one in which anyone can achieve their dreams. She wouldn't say she's achieved hers, yet... but she's working on it!

HISTORY:
✿ Luca was raised in a poor town in the countryside by her single mother. Despite the fact they only had each other, they didn't get along well. Luca started saving money when she was little to make it to the big city.
✿ She moved to the city when she was fifteen in order to start studying. She managed to find a cheap room for rent and has been living on her own ever since. It's rough, money-wise but... it's sort of embarrassing so share a room so small with another person, you know!
✿ She considered applying to U.A., but she knew her goal was to become a Quirk Counselor so she's currently in the equivalent of technical school. She still is a bit of a U.A. fangirl and comes to their events whenever she can.
✿ She's currently allowed to do minor Quirk Therapy sessions through the technical school she's enrolled in. However, there's rumors floating around that she also does some unsupervised...
✿ As a part-time job, she works as a waitress in a fairly-popular café in the city.

QUIRK: Luca's Quirk, Dream Pattern allows her to create a "bubble" within her own psyche. By bringing a person into that bubble, they're effectively within a world controlled by Luca. She uses this as a form of "Quirk Therapy" where people can explore aspects of their Quirk without risk of real world damage. This can include things like letting a person "play out" a villain fantasy without consequence, playing with an enhanced version of their Quirk to see how it feels, or just enjoying an afternoon without the feeling of their Quirk if it interferes with their life. It's entirely fake and in-their-head but Luca feels it's important for people to have an outlet like that, in a world where really only Heroes and Villains get to fully use their Quirks.

Limitations: Luca's been training her Dream Pattern since she first manifested it. As such, she's capable of making the terrain and atmosphere inside her bubble look like anything she's seen or can dream up. If she doesn't understand something she tries to create in the Dream Pattern, it will be appropriately "off" (think like movie physics or movie science, her world can be "wrong" because it's her mind creating it). She can also only comfortably bring one person in at a time. Attempting to bring in more than one would put immense physical and mental stress on her. Luca must make physical contact with someone to use Dream Pattern.
Physical Status: When Luca brings someone into Dream Pattern, the two characters' physical bodies enter a sleep-like state. In other words, both her and the individual she invites are physically vulnerable during the duration of the Quirk activation.
Mental/Emotional Status: Any individual inside Luca's Dream Pattern is subject to Luca's rule. The damage they take within Dream Pattern doesn't manifest on their physical body but can lead to extreme mental fatigue. Death in Dream Pattern would result in disastrous consequences for the victim's psyche.
Fighting in Dream Pattern: If individuals enter the Dream Pattern willingly, they are incapable of directly harming Luca's psyche. They may appear to but she only loses the amount of energy she puts into maintaining it. If Luca were to force someone into her Dream Pattern, this would not be the case. If Luca were killed within her own Dream Pattern, she would probably go catatonic. If Luca were killed in the real world while maintaining her Dream Pattern, the Dream would end and the invited person would be ejected and wake up.
Duration: If Luca uses Dream Pattern in smaller, 30-minute chunks then she can do five or six over the course of a day. The longest she can currently maintain a single instance is two hours. Longer than that and she gets nauseous, irritable and suffers from migraines.

COSTUME: Her in-game outfit is what she wears when she's "working" as a Quirk Therapist. On a day-to-day basis she's usually in her school uniform (+ an blast-proof apron if she's working with kids that are newly manifesting their Quirks).

Man, this is a occupation I hadn't even considered. A quirk like hers would make it a pretty unique kinda occupation.

So if someone manages to kill her, how long before she comes back to the waking world? Would there be a way for someone to die/get out but still be able to keep operating?

CHARACTER NAME: Yuno Ashihara
CANON: God Eater 2
AGE/AU AGE: 18
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: N/A
OCCUPATION: Support student
PERSONALITY
  • A kind and demure girl
  • soft spoken individual who harbors lots of sympathy for those around her
  • can be kind of a reckless bullhead at times
  • tends to act on her own conviction without thinking first
  • really likes children and is something like a sister/mother figure
  • wouldn't think twice about helping someone in need
  • becomes emotional very easily
  • she enjoys creating music so that others will have more peace of mind

HISTORY:

  • Her quirk manifested itself when she was young and worked hard to train it daily
  • Yuno has taken interest in music because her quirk was related to song
  • A few years later she has built up a reputation for being a singer.
  • She usually travels around trying to promote heroes and send hope to people
  • peers suggest to join UA high and she agrees
  • she signs up for third year support class

QUIRK: Her quirk called "Blessed Aria" will be activated upon singing. People who listen to it will be temporarily stunned within a 10 meter range. It lasts for about five minutes or so. Unfortunately, her allies may also feel the effects of her quirk unless they bring ear plugs.

sup you punk

What a disadvantageous quirk. Would she need an item to isolate it toward enemies in the future? Does her music do anything else? It sounds like she can at least determine when her singing will be an attack or not, right?

CHARACTER NAME: [they're a guy with many names i'm sorry] Kagami no Shiranui
CANON: OC
AGE/AU AGE: Probably keeping this unknown
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: That weird guy who wears unusual clothing
OCCUPATION: watching you may be a teacher? but not exactly a super reliable one, temp or something

PERSONALITY:
- a really weird hippie tbh
- #yolo
- it's hard to pin down their personality but they seem like the sort to enjoy having fun
- but their definition of fun is really weird
- the type of person whom you can't really understand their motivations, like those people who are always smiling
- seems to be harmless though
- enjoys fashion and looking good, known to dye hair colours etc

HISTORY:
Since they're a shapeshifter, it's hard to pin down who they might be (due to past fabricated identities). But in their most well known personage is a hipster type of teacher who wears feathers and other strange aesthetic. Known as eccentric but not sinister, so most people just leave them be.

QUIRK: Transformation. Probably a mutant quirk? They would be able to 'dissolve' themselves into an indigo mist and shapeshift into someone else. As a result it's hard to identify which is their 'true' form, but they have a 'default' one that they stick to when dealing with UA related things so that's the most recognizeable one. The mist form cannot effect RL things [passes through them] so they have to decide on a form to take in order to move anything. Due to being experienced they can transform quite quickly, but practice is needed to assume new forms. Cannot transform into non-living objects.

Most people don't know about their transformation quirk so they kind of do other jobs that don't involve quirk usage. Like hacking, maybe. A tech support guy? And also helps students with makeup and outfits because not looking good is a crime.

I actually love weirdos like this. For the quirk would they need a requirement to change into someone else? Like to clone them? Do they have to do everything by memory so does it make it easy to fuck it up? Does this mean clothes also don't change?

CHARACTER NAME: satori tendou
CANON: haikyuu!!
AGE/AU AGE: 18/19
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: guess monster
OCCUPATION: I'm actually not sure about this! I've been thinking a third year student ready to drop the hell out, or someone who has dropped out already (being a hero has way too many rules bro he's gonna suck the info out and crime fight in style) or recently graduated, in the grey area— unsure yet, but opinions are welcomed!
PERSONALITY:

• extroverted, very chipper and loud, if he's not singing or fluctuating tones into something w e i r d
• surprisingly, a team player! he's kind of like the mom among friends, usually defusing arguments and throwing damp towels over steam
• needs an exorcist
• enthusiastic and intuitive! he's really great at reading subtle undertones and what other people are feeling.
• he means well to his teammates and is really shown to care, but that doesn't stop him from teasing and joking to the point he's often considered annoying.
• he's super confident in himself to the point of arrogance, but he knows skill when he sees it, and while he could get royally pissed for being bested, he acknowledges others and their own skills.
• rather sardonic, he's shown to constantly mock his opponents— psychological tactics :)
• vibrant and interactive, Tendou is very involved in what he does, including the people he supports!
• he's very true to himself, and not only seeks acceptance for the person he is, but his style of fighting and freedom to just do him.

HISTORY:

Tendou was born into your average family, neither parents pro-heroes. The rest heavily depends on the quirk variation I go with, but long story short: he was bullied a lot all the way until high school for looking like a villain with a quirk to boot. He still gets a few twisted looks from peers, but today, haters gonna hate— he's taken the nickname bullies have given him in the past and tying it into his hero name. He knows his strength and he knows how to use it, earning more respect than he ever had— and strives for even more of it, dreaming of the crowds chanting one thing: GUESS MONSTER.

QUIRK:

Tendou's quirk is GUESS BLOCKING to match canon, but I'm a little unsure if I should make it:

• quirk/strength nullification on contact OR
• enhanced perception and quirk/strength nullification on sight.

The former would have Tendou rely on close quarters combat, solely on his own human perception (sharpened, but human, nonetheless) and guesses to actively predict an opponent's next attack and avoid them, sapping their energy away with any type of physical touch. The opponent would have their quirk lessened until it's unusable, but I haven't figured out a time limit yet. something short (suggestions are welcomed!!). The more the person gets touched, or depending on how long the contact is made, the more guess blocking becomes stronger, bleeding into a person's physical strength and leaving them weaker by the minute. It could eventually make the person faint, and it's worst/strongest, could make the body so weak it stops. This is tied into Tendou's well being and feel-good vibes that must be present for guess block's activation; the more confident, excited and superior he feels, the stronger, scarier and more effective strength/quirk sapping will become. The more Tendou feels threatened or unsafe from his opponent, the less successful guess block could be. For this variation, people would have to be close to Tendou, enough for him to keep touchies going and sap the life out of a poor soul.

The latter is a take on guess block that switches physical contact with eye contact, including a more superhuman perception of detail and fast moving objects (imagine the perception ability from the sharingan in naruto). Instead of relying on intuition, Tendou would have a more accurate "preview" of what his opponent will do by catching sight of the slightest tension and movement unseen to the normal eye, and seeing small "after images" of what's to come. The quirk block would be the larger of the package, requiring eye contact to work, no matter how small, rendering an opponent's quirk g o n e for x amount of time (whatever time it is, it'll be the same for both possibilities). The more a person makes eye contact, the more will be temporarily sapped from them (quirk -> physical strength). The added perception would be to help Tendou predict his opponent's move to maintain various "snipes" of eye contact and the larger mass of his quirk rolling, as well as backing him up on the combat side. While strong, he's fairly lean and slightly underweight for his size, not making him a good close-combat candidate to aim punches, or for any sort of direct combat, for that matter, and would be essential for him to get the opponent weak enough so that he could take them on himself. The heavy downside to this choice would be the strain it puts on the eyes— a majority of icons I have are of Tendou squinting, so I thought that it could perhaps strain his eyesight for the duration he sets an activation, from using the perception aspect of the eyes to the quirk lock. The more he activates, the more his vision could strain and blur, eventually  causing him to trap the opponent less and less, else he can't see; worst case scenario, he could end up pretty much temporarily blind because of its recurring usage. He needs to see his ophthalmologist a lot to control the permanent damage the quirk causes long term, keeping track of the strain and in check with glasses and contacts.

Or, one more I just thought of— physical contact + heightened perception, adding the eye weakness to the contact one instead of having it rely on his confidence. Maybe I can mesh the two together, or. Makes hand movements!!!

All choices wouldn't work on mutations. Opinions would be loved, including any suggestions to make it better!

(especially that time limit, what would be considered fair . . . )

COSTUME: I DONT KNOW YET but probably something weird to fit the monster theme, or question marks.

If you wanna bring him in for this run, if he's not a student, I think you could easily have him be a hero/vigilante and it'll meet the app requirements for this round.

The only thing about this quirk is it reminds me a lot of Aizawa's. In that case, the eye contact idea would immediately be out for me to avoid that same concept, but maybe it's less about nullifying their abilities but actually making him resistant to whatever it is?? He'd still have to keep up defenses and predict with confidence, but he'd be invulnerable so long as he knows their movements. (Maybe saying the attack (i.e. "right kick") to activate it?)

The only downside to that is actual content. Most fights are going to have their movements crafted out for you to react to, but it could make him a little easy to accidentally make OP. It'd require more consideration from you about what might make him slip up and get hit when it comes to it.

That's the only way I can think of to make this not like Aizawa's...

CHARACTER NAME: Undyne Rikimaru
CANON: Undertale
AGE/AU AGE: 26
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Undyne the Undying
OCCUPATION: Pro Hero
PERSONALITY:
- UPBEAT AND FULL OF ENERGY.
- Hotheaded and rash.
- Also tends to be pretty stubborn and kinda just says whatever's on her mind, though she does have a filter.
- Sociable and outgoing.
- Ready to fight and or suplex anyone at all times. Especially if you're her friend.
- Easily intimidates and frightens others with her personality and looks.
- Despite using the former to her advantage, she's also kind of a softie. She cares deeply about her friends and would do anything for them.
- Has a strong sense of justice and wants to do the right thing, even if "the right thing" happens to be something pretty...not great.
- Huge otaku and a giant nerd. Totally practices monologues in front of her mirror.
- Blushes surprisingly easily in front of people she likes.
- Although her sense of justice is strong and she's willing to make the tough calls for the better, she still tends to view good and evil as kinda black and white. She's getting better about this, as she's noted the hypocrisy, but it's a work in progress. As is not holding grudges.
- Surprisingly cultured even though she has an informal (and frankly, kind of crass) way of speaking. Plays the piano and "cooks", for example.
- Her piano playing is good. Her cooking amounts to beating up food and almost causing a fire.

HISTORY:
- As a kid, she was a gigantic punk. Caused fights, refused to study and do homework, you get the idea.
- This kept on for a while until one day she met a hero whose name may or may not rhyme with Basgore Beamer. - He seemed like the coolest thing ever and Undyne desperately wanted to fight him.
- Obviously he refused. However she kept up right on trying. These attempts helped her grow closer to him.
- Over time he became a mentor of sorts to her and she mellowed out, at least as far as her jerkish tendencies went. This mentor made her realize that she should use her talents to acomplish something with her life. Like being a hero.
- Got into UA by recommendation and interned with the hero, becoming his sidekick and eventually becoming a hero of her own.
- While the exact details of her Quirk aren't fully known, her ability to take a ridiculous amount of punishment and keep right on swinging was what lead to her Hero name: The Undying. Or Undyne the Undying, who needs a secret identity anyway.

QUIRK: The Undying

Undyne's Quirk is based around emotion. Or, more specifically, one single emotion: determination. Basically the more Undyne believes in herself, the longer and stronger she can fight. How this works is that once active, she produces an energy of sorts that super charges her. This energy dulls her sense of pain and other senses which would interfere with her fighting, increases her strength and speed, while also raising her endurance to crazy levels. On top of this she can also project this energy outward in the shape of spears. Said spears can be held and sent outwards to strike, though only a few at a time and keeping one or more in existence rather than allowing them to fade takes a lot of energy.

You probably noticed, however, that I nothing was said about resistance. While many of Undyne's abilities go up when her Quirk is doing its thing, the damage reduction isn't really one of them. Sure she might not be able to feel the knife that was stabbed into her gut and her quirk will likely slow the bleeding and allow her to keep up the fight, it doesn't mean that she's going to stop being stabbed any time soon. She can still receive injuries and even have limbs cut off. It's just unlikely that she'll realize it until the fight's over and it wears off.

Which then causes her to feel even more pain than she would otherwise, and that's not even counting her other senses. Hunger, exhaustion, thirst, and more are completely shut down while she's fighting with her quirk active. This means that it's not unlikely for her to just completely pass out from a fight once it's over, or be overcome by the senses that were shut off. On top of this, the quirk comes with limits of its own. If Undyne strains herself for too long, her body can actually start to show signs of melting. Stop soon enough and it'll return back to normal, but fight too long and the damage could be irreversible or worse: she could actually disintegrate.

Gross.

As an addendum, it should be noted that's she's especially vulnerable to quirks that can effect emotions. She has high amounts of will power, but something like a quirk that produces hormones/pheromones or that can simply cause her to feel a certain way can lock her out from using her power entirely.

COSTUME: Basically this but she does have an eye patch. Also a helmet similar to her regular suit of armor has, that she may or may not use.

laughs at basgore beamer

But really, this quirk is really good and has a reasonable balance in terms of what pushing the limit can do to her. I THINK IT'S GOOD STUFF.

CHARACTER NAME: Unknown, but it rhymes with 'gray'
CANON: Pyre
AGE/AU AGE: 14
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Moon-touched girl
OCCUPATION: is homeless vagrant acceptable?
PERSONALITY: *Note, the 'moon-touched girl' has no canon name, but is given a name that ends in -ae (eg. Fae, Shae, Bae), so for the purposes of this write-up, I'll refer to her as *ae.

- An odd wild child with an insatiable sense of curiosity, prone to ramblings and stilted speech
- Has an unnatural fixation on the little-known historical founders of her world (if All For One's role in 'unifying' the world in the coming age of quirks is public knowledge, or even rumour, then that'd be enough for her to latch onto, despite not actually knowing much about the person in question - is this okay?), speaking of them as though they were gods. The reverence which she holds these figures is borderline delusional, and is frequently convinced that they are whispering to her, or steering her towards certain paths.
- Naive and eager to please, with a penchant for wanting to see the best in people even if they're antagonistic towards her.
- Her joy is infectious and overflowing, and often shows her appreciation by breaking into dance. She feels a rush of child-like innocence and wonder over the grandness of the world, for which she gives thanks to the founders.
- Deeply empathetic, if people are sad then she's prone to bursting into sobs as well.
- Lonely and cast out at a young age. Seeing people together - parents, siblings, lovers, comrades - only makes fans the feelings of loneliness that comes from being an unwanted child. Longs for family of her own, where she can be accepted.
- As a result, she befriends inanimate objects and animals, and talks to them as though they were her family instead.
- Feels a deep sense of loyalty towards anyone who would take her in, even if they have her fight to extinguish the dreams of others. She'll never act against anyone with malice, but sometimes it has to be done.
- Her deep sense of spiritualism is accompanied by the certainty that everything must be for some greater good in the end, right...? She keeps that flame of that hope lit in her heart.
- Makes her own lucky talismans out of twigs and twine. These symbols and shapes are very important to her - her beliefs draw special meaning from the stars and the symbols used by the rebels who were her friends.
- Cannot read.
- Probably really good at basketball?

HISTORY:

- Abandoned at a young age, *ae was bullied for her strange ways and constantly pressured to change, to fit in with strict standards of propriety. She was shuffled from foster home to foster home, none of whom wanted her for very long. This was only exasperated by the development of her quirk, which she could not control, and caused those around her to be overwhelmed by their disgust and fear of her.

- This lead her to running away from the orphanage one day, at the behest of the voices that supposedly called to her. She was on the streets for a while, wandering far, until found by the authorities and turned into the police.

- Not knowing what to do with her, and having no one that particularly wanted her, the lazier members of the police force simply put her in whatever passes for juvie - since, at least then she'd be out of everyone's hair.

- Unbeknownst to them, there were members of a rebellion stirring in this particular jail. United under an idealistic villain who spoke against the corrupt and power-hungry pro heroes, *ae found herself, for once, welcome among a rag tag group... of villains, sure, but in her eyes they were good people too. After all, they believed so strongly in their cause, and in each other!

- The group made an extensive plan for a mass jailbreak, whereupon they would reunite with their allies outside to continue spreading the seeds of this rebellion. However, not everything went according to plan. They were only able to get one person past the walls and... that person was *ae. Promising they'd keep working to free themselves in the coming months, *ae was thrust back out into the world, alone.

QUIRK: Moon aura

- The moon represents the subconscious mind, the world of emotions and illusion. *ae has an aura around her, fixed in size, that taps into that aspect. Anyone that touches the aura will be hit with a wave of their own amplified emotions - the stronger the feelings in their own heart, the more overwhelming it will be. They will lash out, or burst into tears, or fall over laughing.

- The effect can be dispelled through calmness and wisdom, but those with raging, out of control emotions will be sucked into a subconscious illusion of their own making. In this state, they're so consumed by their emotion that they become trapped in their own mind. If they are enraged, for example, they might see the target of their hatred, and be consumed with smashing them to pulp. All action they take is completely in their own head, though - in the real world, they'll be frozen still, as though daydreaming. The state is temporary, but lasts longer the larger someone is.

- Inversely, if someone is able to get past *ae's aura while it is active, whether through force of will or some kind of negating power, and touches her, the aura will rebound on her and she'll be assaulted by illusions born of her mental state instead.

- With focus, she can project her aura out, but its volume cannot change. At its farthest, it can reach about 10 feet away. She is vulnerable in this state, as she is more exposed to being touched.

- Her aura is not always active - when off, she is able to touch without side-effects. However, she doesn't have enough experience and clarity to control when it turns on or off right now, so it's more often on than not.

- Does not affect animals or robots.

COSTUME: It's not really a costume, per se, but she's usually dressed in gray rags, with leaves and branches stuck in her hair and various trinkets and handmade talismans around her arms and neck, usually twine and bark.

excuse me it's a good idea

[personal profile] explodokills 2017-08-01 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
I REALLY love this quirk and the idea of her being more or less a vagrant (recent MHA arc really plays on that kind of feeling of being 'saved', so to speak), but I wanted to get clarification.

So if she pushes the aura out to about ten feet, is it no longer fixed to her? Like, does it kind of just go off like a balloon on a string? I wonder because if it's still all attached, just has reach (Sort of like Dark Shadow style where it cannot detach from Tokoyami but can grow), then the vulnerability seems unlikely.

Not applying this round, but figure I should get the kinks ironed out ahead of time.

CHARACTER NAME: Vanitas
CANON:Kingdom Hearts
AGE/AU AGE: 15-16
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Vanitas. Will also have the fake name Kurozaki Tenchi (Or is it fake?)
OCCUPATION: Villain
PERSONALITY:

-Vanitas is a dumpster goblin
-He's averagely intelligent but doesn't have enough intelligence or drive, to really have an agenda of his own beyond surviving and causing as much havoc as possible for fun.
-He's aware of this fact, so he sells his services.
-He's usually unimpressed with his new bosses and then leaves after he completes the bare minimum of the contract.
-He pretty much hates everyone.
-His dream would be an all out war where everyone uses their quirks to their full destructive ability.

HISTORY: He doesn't really know. He vaguely remembers a brother or brothers, but he's not sure, and it's the same face, so who knows and who cares? Not him.

He was raised by a mad man who used as a tool to cause chaos, while he went and did other things. As such, Vanitas likes to create chaos. Because he got rewarded. He was forced to train against his own quirk created beings in order to make him gain a high tolerance to pain, and the experience has left him more than a few screws loose. Eventually, he got tired of it all and left, living on the streets and selling his services to any who would have him.

He's pretty much a thug for hire.
QUIRK: Unversed.

Unversed acts a lot like Dark Shadow, but instead of one powerful being attached to him, he can create multiple, somewhat weak beings that can act independently, but with Vanitas acting as a hive mind of sorts. He can make bigger, more powerful ones, but the bigger they are, the less he can make unless using a quirk enhancement drug. The biggest he can make without the enhancement drug is a Brusier, and he can only make one of those at a time.

Without drugs he can make 9 Floods, 3 Scrappers, or the one Bruiser at a time.

They are extremely susceptible to light based attacks, and when destroyed they cause Vanitas extreme pain, akin to a bone breaking. They can take a few good whacks, but they aren't invincible.

He creates the unversed using his negative emotions, the more upset he is, the faster and smarter seeming they tend to be.

Unrelated to his quirk, he can also wield a broadsword or even a greatsword with some skill.

COSTUME: His canon outfit works as a costume - and With a helmet

NICE NICE NICE

I think this is fairly balanced and shows he has a limit to what can be generated at max. So the "bone-breaking" pain, how crippling is that? Mostly curious. Sometimes we strive for weaknesses to be fair and end up overdoing it.

CHARACTER NAME: eren yeager
CANON: attack on titan
AGE/AU AGE: 15
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Jäger, The Hunter
OCCUPATION: student
PERSONALITY:

—protector of the weak and will literally fight you if you're an asshole
—that being said, he's courageous and fearless af
—impulsive and temperamental; he's pretty blunt and upfront, with a lack of self restraint.
—so completely reckless that he's usually dubbed "suicidal".
—loyal to no end when he's formed bonds and will probably die for u
—his judgement is absolute, and while he wants to trust his comrades, sometimes he just. doesn't.
—he tries to prove himself a lot, mostly because people treat him like a kid, and that pisses him off to no end (but he really is a reckless kid)
—he's very black and white with his beliefs, and has no trouble with the act of killing when he thinks it's necessary; he's already a violent person to start and believes people deserve what they have coming.
—very intense with his emotions, especially the negative ones.
—while he's a little rough around the edges, he isn't hostile enough to be considered unapproachable; he's pretty social and supportive of people he thinks are good.
—he's also naive and too trusting on the bonding front. he's an easy person to betray.
—don't betray him. he'll literally want to murder you.
—literally.
—has unyielding shounen willpower and is probably raw determination personified.
—I WILL DESTROY THE TITA— villains (this is a joke, but the ones that really deserve it might as well be on the list)

HISTORY:

—his mother was a victim to a villain-caused building collapse when he was around ten; he was there with her and tried to get her out on his own, but didn't know how to activate his quirk (that had already manifested).
—she ended up fatally injured and didn't want to be rescued. the building was seconds from collapsing as a whole and as a sudden terrorist attack, heroes were still scrambling to the scene.
—was saved by the pro-heroes he looked up to, but mother didn't make it through.
—he saw the villain(s) who did it as he was getting taken to safety, and it was not a pretty sight. they even went out of their way to kill survivors.
— IM GONNA KILL THE BAD VILLAINS and that's where eren completely lost it
—from there, he started with a lot of temper issues and had quite a few quirk accidents; Mt. Lady was the best choice to subdue him but it was still a rough bunch of tumbles.
—got into UA through recommendation; his father's still around as a researcher but isn't present, and if eren's doesn't get a handle on his quirk, he could very well become a monster.
—he really doesn't want to hurt anyone though and he's kind of "uuuuUUUUHHHH" about using his quirk at all. only emergencies yo.

QUIRK:

eren's quirk, dubbed titan shifting, is capable of creating a vessel: a massive, fifteen meter giant.

firstly, it isn't entirely eren's body that transforms; eren's quirk can bring together mass and energy, specifically from the sun to form muscle around him rather than changing his body. because of the high quantity of energy it utilizes, needs, and its quickened level of metabolism and activity, eren's titan vessel, or anything created from it, has an extremely high temperature, letting off steam and capable of causing burns if it isn't protected by skin.

as mentioned earlier, eren draws most of this massive amount of energy from the sun— this doesn't exactly restrict eren's quirk to daylight usage, or in places where there's a large abundance of light (although it does help a lot); during the day, he can use and keep a titan form for as long as his own stamina can handle it (the temperature, the strain, etc). In dark places, or during the night hours, eren's quirk relies on the sunlight he absorbed during the day, making it difficult to hold a titan form and keeps it heavily restricted with a much shorter time limit. it's as if the sun is used as a crucial crutch rather than the only fountain of energy, because his body suffers consequences after most exertions as well: unconsciousness, heavy breathing, nosebleeds, burns and so forth.

if the vessel loses limbs or takes damage, eren himself won't particularly feel the pain since they're separate things, and the sun's energy will allow regeneration of the limbs or parts lost— although it takes around ten minutes for a single limb to reform, and even longer when there are more than one part regenerating at once. basically, it's easier for eren to lose the mental energy to hold the titan than wait through multiple regenerations, one part at a time being the most successful.

there are two prerequisites for eren to be able to go full on titan or even partial titan (where he could create non-functional, separate body parts that could act as a shield at most). one is resolve, usually fueled by strong emotions (almost always anger, but not all the time), and the last is pain, where eren usually bites himself hard enough to draw blood to trigger the transformation. he can always bite himself, but if there's no fixed resolve and doubt in his mind, nothing would happen. just more scars for his hands.

while in the titan, eren is fixed into the muscle of the vessel's nape, connected through the face and spine. due to the flesh's high temperatures, eren almost always ends up with burns of varying degrees after its use where the important insertion of muscle happens, thus requesting clothes to minimize that contact, but not so much to hinder the connection

finally, while eren is in the titan . . . he has little to no control over what he does, the titan's actions being fueled by his resolve, predetermined goal and desire at the time. growing chaotically violent and prone to even attack others in the way of his goal, it's a dangerous quirk that needs work, as much as he does in terms of managing his raw feelings and one of the things I want to explore with him as an attending student.

quirk aside, it should be noted how skilled eren is in hand to hand combat, martial arts and blade use, skills that carry over to his quirk when activated or used the most when it's not— he can't always turn titanic and destroy half of what he walks on.

COSTUME: Probably something simple and really not that snazzy. He just wants function to protect his skin while he's in the titan, resistant to high temperatures and flexible.

I actually feel like this is the next guy you should bring in. I KNOW YOU LOVE YOUR VOLLEYS but this quirk's a bit more solid and I think easier to do. Guess it depends on what you want your general RP goals to be next!

CHARACTER NAME: Karamatsu Matsuno
CANON: Osomatsu-san
AGE/AU AGE: 23
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Dark Hero, Fallen Angel, Guilt Guy, Sinful Second Son, Carnal Carnivore... most commonly known as "That Fucking Guy"
OCCUPATION: NEET, Public Nuisance
PERSONALITY:
-DELUSIONAL AS ALL HELL. You see some creepy embarrassing loser; he sees a tragic figure who only hurts the ones he loves, and so he must live as a lone wolf, no matter how longing the gazes of the girls (and even boys) he passes by...! Etc, etc.
-Has a wildly obsessive, devoted fanbase consisting of: himself.
-He actually is pretty lonely, though. Everything he does is for the sake of being noticed and liked, he just has a really warped idea of what will get him that. But since nothing works, clearly that means it is his fate to be a villain instead!!
-His idea of "villainy" is mostly just hanging around in shady areas, spouting monologues to himself, mooching off his parents, and keeping the change he finds lying around instead of turning it in.
-But the real crime here is he won't stop hitting on just about everyone ever. Usually women, the occasional fellow, along with an assortment of mirrors, flowers, fish, bodies of water, and even the sun. He's not picky, just please give him attention.
-If you manage to get through all that painfulness he's actually a warm and loving kind of guy. A little dumb, and kind of a coward, and he cries a lot when his guard's down, but if he genuinely likes someone he's really generous with his time and money and will put up with a LOT of shit. Not that he doesn't get angry, but usually he's exceedingly patient.
-He's pretty easy to take advantage of in this way.
-He has no goals, no ambition, and no cares in the world. But that's how you live life without regrets, too! Nailed it.
HISTORY: He'll make up some bullshit about about a dark past but really, his life has been pretty average. As average as you can be as one of a set of identical sextuplets. They may have been a hivemind as awful, awful children but they've all kind of branched out into their own hobbies and interests as awful, awful adults, but they still all look pretty damn alike and are all worthless freeloaders. Karamatsu is notable for being the family buttmonkey. One time some minor villain kidnapped him for ransom and his brothers shrugged and went on with their business, and even the villain felt really bad for him. Maybe his delusions are a coping mechanism...
QUIRK:
SHAPESHIFTING - but only the eyes. He could have totally normal human eyeballs one moment but then think about something "cool" or romantic and have big sparkling bishounen eyes the next. It's gross, it's creepy, it's completely useless! But he's managed to permashift some notably strong eyebrows with it, so maybe it's not all bad.

THE NUMBER OF THE DEVIL - this one's a lot more dangerous, but fortunately, extremely rare, as the Matsuno sextuplets almost never get along or agree on anything. But when they all unite against a common enemy that they legitimately want to destroy, they can get deep into a creepy sibling hivemind mode and the dark aura of their combined shittiness merges and takes on a physical form, called Akumatsu. While Akumatsu is active the boys are in a catatonic state, and it takes 10-30 minutes to really regain their senses once it's all over. Obviously, this is never going to come into play anyway.

COSTUME: It varies from week to week. Sometimes he's really feeling the dark, brooding black leather and spikes look. Other times he wants to show off as much skin and sparkle as possible. Whatever his outfit of choice it almost always looks like it would be at home at a Pride Parade. Or this place...

CHARACTER NAME: Koumei Ren
CANON: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
AGE/AU AGE: 26
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Dantalion
OCCUPATION: Teaching assistant! ...who also has slight vigilante tendencies aside, u m.
PERSONALITY:
  • Lazy as all heck. Like, half the time he’ll look like he just got out of bed and didn’t bother to put on his clothes properly.
  • A shitty liar and he’ll exaggerate his lies to the point of overreacting just to get out of something he finds troublesome.
  • Sort of related to the above point, but he loves pigeons enough that he’ll also try to get out of something just to feed them.
  • Kind of gloomy. He’s not a pessimist, but he does complain sometimes.
  • Despite that, he is dedicated to keeping peace and wants to make people’s lives better!
  • Also kind of ruthless, u h. He’s not opposed to getting his hands a little dirty just to keep order around here tbh.
  • Very polite and speaks formally to anyone.
  • Related to the above point, but he’s pretty humble too and doesn’t care for flaunting around his status.
  • A strategist, since he much prefers planning to fighting. Though if he’s made to do the latter, he won’t deny it.
  • Cares for his family a lot! Save for his aunt, he’d risk his life to defend his brothers and sisters.
  • He’s okay with friends, but he does put his family first.
  • Just tired all-around. Heck, he likes and wants to sleep so much, he can do it standing upright and keeping his eyes open. Also thinks it’s something to be proud of, jfc

  • HISTORY:
  • Born into the Ren family (though he’s the second son of Koutoku Ren, which makes Hakutoku Ren his uncle), a lineage well-known for their achievements in the military, though they were a neutral party during the civil clashes between quirks and non-quirks in a small province in China.
  • Speaking of those clashes, it stressed out him and all the other Kou children, to the point where all of them manifested their quirks because of it.
  • Koumei’s quirk manifested after overstressing himself too much in his studies at an early age, whoops. He had to be trained, though to this day, he still doesn’t have full control over it.
  • Eventually Hakutoku, the elder son and head to the family at the time, united both groups. They have since held a strong political influence in their province.
  • Unfortunately, a few months after unification, his uncle and his two elder sons dying in a supposed revolt (it was really their aunt and the terrorist group she was a part of who killed them, a fact which the Kous found out later on), and the Kous became more prominent when his father stepped in as the next head to the family.
  • During those years while his father reigned over the province, Koumei focused on studying military strategies and politics (aside from regular education in general) as well as traveling to other countries to observe their policies with quirks and non-quirks alike, partly as a way to see if there’s anything he can implement some of them back in the province.
  • He comes back a couple of years before his father’s death. By that time, his views on how to maintain unity have taken on a gray-ish morale.
  • When that comes, the Kou children’s aunt, Gyokuen Ren is made the head of the Ren family instead of Koumei’s eldest brother, Kouen. Naturally, the Kous and the people allied with them are disgusted, Koumei included.
  • Not wanting to live in the province ruled by his aunt, Koumei decided to head out again, and hearing about UA, applied there as an assistant, partly to find out if there’s anything of use that could help Kouen and the others in overthrowing Gyokuen.

  • QUIRK:
Koumei’s quirk, Dante Al-Thais, involves teleportation. It enables him to trace and connect lines around an object, a person, or even an attack and either move them away, move them to a position where he thinks is most effective or transfer them to another location, though he uses it less often and it only works when he himself has been to the place before. He can also do it to multiple people/objects/attacks, so if need be, he can combine allies’ attack all at once.

The downside is that larger objects, as well as people and attacks in general, take up a lot of his energy, which is a huge reason in why he needs to sleep so much, and he can’t tap into that much power again unless he’s fully recharged. The more strenuous his quirk, the longer he needs to sleep.

Another factor is that Koumei himself doesn’t want to improve his quirk. To him, he thinks it’s not suited for battle and is more than satisfied just being able to teleport small objects without exerting so much effort and for mundane tasks. Hence, it’s why he doesn’t have full control over it.

COSTUME: Maybe something similar to this? For the hair, he probs wears a wig though, LMFAO

Koumei's history I'm actually kind of iffy on and not completely satisifed, so if there's anything that needs to be changed to make it fit more with the AU, let me know! Also not apping him this round(if I decide to, there's also another character from the same canon that I'm thinking of, but I'll put him tomorrow hghghh), just wanted to get a head start, ahhh

I don't see anything inherently wrong with the history, but that I'll mostly leave up to you. There's a lot that can be played with here as it's more in the future. I think maybe the only thing would be he'd probably obscure his identity? Or ask it to U.A. Staff. We have a similar case in the game now.

As for the quirk, can you elaborate on the "line" that connects him to the item? And when you say an attack, nothing attached to a person, right? It'd have to move the whole person?

    CHARACTER NAME: Mushanokoji 'Kid' Shien
    CANON: Eyeshield 21
    AGE/AU AGE: Canon: 17-20, AU...25ish?
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: The Quickdraw Kid
    OCCUPATION: Hero~
    PERSONALITY:
    Laid-back and pretty mellow
Tends to let things roll off his back
    Nap enthusiast
    Secretive about his personal life/past
    Inexplicable cowboy fetish
Unambitious, yet he's still working pretty hard as a pro hero...
    Super genius
    Pretty pessimistic
Friendly, but keeps people at arm's length
Supportive of other people and their goals, but not of himself/his own.

    HISTORY:
(This is just like, the cliffnotes vers)
Basically he was supposed to follow in his father's footsteps as the head of the family and take up the same occupation as his dad but he thought being a hero would be pretty neat and started practicing his quirk in secret.
At some point, had a huge falling out with his family, plus failing in some way when they had a lot of expectations on him.
Left home when he got into a hero-based high school (Not UA, he wouldn't be able to pass the practical...), has been supporting himself since he was about fourteen. He would have been able to get support items to boost his quirk usefulness, and training to maximize his hero potential.
Through constant training and the use of his support items, he was able to graduate and obtain a full hero license, and now he has his own agency. Which is pretty small and not too notable, but he works pretty hard.

    QUIRK:
Kid's quirk is Rapid Fire, which I want to be a quirk that gives him both super fast reaction times and reflexes. Basically, it's something he can activate in appropriate situations, and wouldn't be very useful unless he is also either a) very strong (haha, no) or b) has a support item that can make use of his reactiveness.

Because I want him to have support guns that he can use to shoot non-lethal tranq rounds or whatever. He's a cowboy, he needs guns. If he doesn't have those, he's basically boned.

COSTUME: Dogg you know it's gotta be this.

This is not going to be my actual app I have that written out much nicer :| I'm still uncertain about his quirk and I'm having trouble articulating what I want him to be able to do....I mean, I want him to be a quickdraw gunfight guy, obviously, and I feel like the reflex/reaction thing fits in with his canon 'abilities'. But I dunno.
    explodokills: (and understanding)

    [personal profile] explodokills 2017-08-06 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
You really don't have to go too crazy on the app for me unless you're like, "Would this work in the AU?" The more summarized an app, the better, imo.

As for the quirk... What if he wears something on his eyes that helps keep them guided and focused? I can imagine having quick reflexes and being able to focus on one thing instead of being distracted by multiple items can be rough on the senses, so maybe it's been a long-term issue when he activates it and needs the goggles. That could line him up for an inherent weakness as well.

And here's the other character I was thinking of for next round if I don't go with Koumei, wheezes

    CHARACTER NAME: Kouen Ren
CANON: Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
    AGE/AU AGE: 29
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Entei? Or if that’s not okay, then either Flame Emperor or Astaroth
OCCUPATION: Teacher! With secret vigilante dealings on the side, oh boy.
    PERSONALITY:
  • Stoic. Like, he hardly ever smiles tbh.
  • Kind of strict sometimes, but he means well.
  • Pretty intelligent, given that he reads books so much, especially when they pertain to history.
  • Speaking of, Kouen’s a history nut! He loves knowledge so much, he’d beat up someone just to get some answers...
  • Also becomes outrageous and swears a lot if something or someone is in the way of his quest to gain knowledge, j f c.
  • Kind of distant and quiet around people, even with his siblings. Also feels somewhat self-conscious about it, and thinks of himself as boring because of it.
  • Despite that, he loves and cares for them! He just sucks at expressing himself properly.
  • Feels that fighting is a chore, but he won’t refuse if it’s in his interests (answers to knowledge he’s seeking or maintaining order).
  • Morale is kind of questionable, since he is willing to dirty his hands occasionally to protect the people.
  • Ruthless too, a bit more than his other siblings.
  • Despite it, he cares about his home and the world in general, and has ambitions for peace.

  • HISTORY:
  • Is Koutoku Ren’s eldest son.
  • Quirk manifested when he was five, though he had to wait a few years later to train.
  • Was a bit more involved with the civil clashes than the other Kou children, as he traveled with his uncle Hakutoku and his two eldest sons Hakuyuu and Hakuren to subdue the conflicts. Although, witnessing them upfront made Kouen just as stressed as his siblings were.
  • At some point, his eldest cousin entrusted his sword to him, which he then modified it to control his quirk.
  • Admired his uncle for his ideals in unification and peace, and looked up to his eldest cousins as well. Which was why Kouen was devastated to hear that they died in a revolt of sorts just a few months after unifying both quirk groups and non-quirk groups in the small province they lived in.
  • He later learned that it was actually his aunt who killed them, and though he vowed to get revenge (as well as being instilled with a lifelong fear of her), he put it on the back-burner since he didn’t have the strength to face her at the time.
  • After his father took over as the head of the Ren family, Kouen studied and trained hard (occasionally traveling outside to improve on both as well as dealing in morally gray situations), wanting to keep the same incident from happening.
  • Unfortunately, it happened again, as some years later, his own father died at his aunt’s hands too. Thus, Kouen was next in line as the head...or well, he was supposed to, but his aunt took the title from him instead.
  • Also unfortunate was by that time, his aunt gathered a lot of support (nearly all of them from the villain-based terrorist group she was a part of that wanted to spread chaos in the province). She had offered Kouen that he could still become the head instead by marrying her, but GOOD GOD, NO WAY WAS HE DOING THAT so he flat out refused.
  • Decided to head out to Japan and teach at UA, seeing as it was one of the top schools and he wanted to use this opportunity as sort of a way to amass more knowledge before he confronted his aunt.
  • And also partly because his youngest brother and sister were thinking of interning there, so he wanted to out first just to see for himself if it was a good place for them.
  • A very tiny part of him considers this as practice for expressing himself more properly too, even if it’s gonna be hard...someone help him jfc.

  • QUIRK: Kouen’s quirk involves fire, though his takes on the form of trailing blazes instead of simple flames and is activated with the sword. He can manipulate their directions and depending on how much energy he puts in, the trails can burn intensely and last for quite a while unless he recalls them. Also, if he focuses enough of his power, he can shoot off a huge trail in the shape of a dragon that incinerates anything in its path.

The downsides are that while he can recall them, he only gets back half the amount of energy. For bigger trails, he can’t use them in smaller, more cramped areas, since there’d be the risk of setting the surrounding area on fire. He also needs his sword as without it, he loses all control of his quirk.

COSTUME: His outfit would be almost the same as this, except his chest would be more covered. The scale-like covers on his arms, legs, and hair extensions help to keep them from being burned by his quirk.

Hm.. I'm less inclined to go for this one because I'd like to see something more than an elemental-based quirk. This has a better idea fixed to it, at least, in that he needs an item to channel it into, but I'm not seeing much more that is unique besides that.

    oh yeah this guy too

    CHARACTER NAME: Jamison Fawkes
    CANON: Overwatch
    AGE/AU AGE: 25
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Junkrat (of course!)
    OCCUPATION: Villain
    PERSONALITY:
Smart, but not in an obvious way (He can build pretty much anything, make a bomb out of anything....)
Does 'loud' count as a personality trait because he is that, very much so.
Tempermental!! He has a hair trigger!
Does NOT like to be looked down on or underestimated
Just fucking loves garbage (big time scavenger, likes to make stuff out of things people threw away)
Proud!! He's proud of what he can do!! (blow things up really good)
    Smells
Pretty much lacking in 90% of basic social skills.
Just likes causing chaos there is no other reason for why he does the shit he does.
Will steal anything he can get his dirty little fingers on (also throws away half of what he steals)
Overly-familiar with people in just the worst way.
He's just totally obsessed with causing the biggest explosions possible, I mean that's it.

    HISTORY:
Grew up in Australia (of course)
Orphaned in a large-scale villain attack, by a villain with some type of explosion/fire quirk which obviously left a big ol' impression. Probably where he figured out his own quirk.
Went in and out of foster homes/orphanages, got shuffled around a lot until he aged out of the system.
Taught himself how to make the cool explosions that he likes and subsequently:
He has done a lot of Crimes.
Been to jail but broke out, currently on the run/globetrotting!

    QUIRK:
    Phlogistic
Junkrat tends to catch on fire. That's not his quirk, that just happens when you mess around with volatile chemicals. Where his quirk comes in, is that fire just doesn't phase him. A fire can burn on his skin/hair without ever burning him or hurting him. He's just immune to fire, including fire created by other people's quirks.

He can't like, control fire or wield it or anything, he just can't be burnt up. He can definitely feel heat, but can tolerate much higher temperatures than other people. Usually he's on fire in some way. It makes him easy to find in a crowd...
COSTUME: He just wears a lot of bombs, I don't know what to tell you.

    AGE/AU AGE: 19
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Hero
    OCCUPATION: Teacher
    PERSONALITY:
    - Anti-social, cynical, and misanthropic, though less so now after a life of character growth.
    - Incredibly intelligent, we are talking genius level.
    - Well read and a massively quick thinker, with a cold frost bitten wit to go along with it. Level headed and rational.
    - Sarcastic, very snarky.
    - Can seem to be a bit unfriendly at first glance due to her ice queen persona.
    - Monotone and appears emotionless but is actually sensitive and compassionate deep down, even if others might not pick up on it. Kuudere.
    - Creative, when it comes to writing.
    - Pizza slut.
    - Seriously, she sincerely cares a lot more about issues than her appearance may claim. At this point, she may have worked though some insecurities but that's not saying she'll be perfect and not bite the head off of people who cross her. But she will help others if they ask for it, and will offer genuine advice.
    - Insightful, people who care enough and approach her with respect and sincerity will most likely receive it back in the form of genuine insight and opinions. She's not just a bookish intellectual for by looks.
    - A bit rebellious, if just to the point in which (if pushed enough) that she will stand up for people and call the old man out when something is wrong. So it's all completely moral based.
    - Tired of your shit.
    - Tired of this shit.
    - Tired.
    HISTORY:

    - Most of her canon is mostly intact except for a few changes. She always had her quirk but chose to not draw attention to it for various reasons. The main one being she hates attention, and she doesn't want the pressure and expectations landed on her for her quirk. So for a long time, only people close to her knew of it.

    - At her high school graduation, she grew comfortable enough to announce her quirk to everyone.

    - Her college professors were so impressed with her intellect, history teaching a class, and her quirk...that the idea of working in the school was brought up as to a job opportunity. For her! A college student! She turned it down due to her cynical outlook and skepticism for her actual skill to teach a whole class for long and her patience. But after a looooong discussion with her mom and professor, she finally accepted it on a trial run. She had to be very convinced to do it, and she wouldn't have faith it would work at first.

    - She wants to write. She will continue writing. She would currently be writing a novel and TRYING to have a life outside of her quirk, thank you. Let's live a life as...normal....as possible.....

QUIRK: It's All in My Head

This quirk is designed for the mind powerful and not the physically powerful. With her massive awareness, observational skills, and mental strength, she is able to generate large ass arms, generated from the head. Think this but coming from her cranium. These hands are SUPER powerful and can extend to a few meters in front of her. They can grab, lift, hoist her up, propel her, etc like fucking Doctor Octopus with his extensions. They have intense super human strength to them and can seriously pummel someone. However! The main draw is that her quirk is connected entirely with her brain cells and her optic nerves. And...she has glasses. So. Her quirk's strength and effectiveness is all based on her level of concentration. At full concentration and focus, she can be a force to be reckoned with. But if she say...didn't have her glasses, or was mentally tired, had a head cold, head/eye injury, sensory overload, etc, she could have serious drawbacks to how her quirk works. Plus, also, using the quirk for very long periods can do the same. Make her tired.

    I'M STILL BRAINSTORMING SO IDK.

THIS IS ALL SUBJECT TO CHANGE, I'M STILL BRAINSTORMING... (but i'm tentatively poking around here anyway after a nice chat with some tender salami on emp. incoming textdump, i'm sorry)

CHARACTER NAME: Even? Vexen? this shouldn't even really matter when it's an AU but like listen-- (Aufeis or Vinterssen or something like that as a placeholder? last name because I am not funny)
    CANON: Kingdom Hearts
AGE/AU AGE: some nebulous anime 'was an adult as of 11 years ago' age, prolly 30s-40s ish / still 30s-ish, probably. i'm gonna pick a not-so-random number and go with 32 because freezing point of water, ha.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: shrugs, Chilly Academic probably works
    OCCUPATION: Support/Hero, see history bulletnotes
    PERSONALITY:
    - first impressions of him probably suck/vary anywhere from 'pompous,' 'self-absorbed,' 'pedantic,' 'arrogant,' 'haughty,' 'overbearing'...
    - has more of a temper than you'd expect of someone described as 'chilly'.
    - prideful as all hell. show him disrespect at your own peril, i hope you're fond of long ranting diatribes about why 1) you're a moron, and 2) you suck. he's intelligent and isn't above twisting the knife where it hurts, when he deems appropriate.
    - probably just a little bit more than condescending at times. look, he worked for what he has, the least you could do is show him the least bit of respect
    - is the kind of person to try to prove someone else wrong out of spite
    - this all sounds awful wow, he's not a Nobody/literally missing his heart in this universe hang on a sec-
    - is actually relatively mellow unless set off, if still a little domineering. he just expects to be listened to, whoops.
    - more dramatic and expressive than you'd expect of someone described as 'chilly.'
    - surprisingly honest, if awful at actual communication.
    - honestly he's just a big histrionic nerd when it comes down to it
    - the intuitive type, basically
    - life is one big experiment, gotta try shit and learn everything
    - has a soft spot for children. patience with them runs longer than with the general populace; will indulge them more than most and do his best to be a decent authority figure or mentor figure if necessary. may or may not involve mother hennish tendencies if particularly attached.
    - this does not mean he is good at taking care of children, necessarily. look, sometimes you try your best but you're still a shitty science dad
    - zero tolerance for stupidity or ignorance in adults, on the other hand. once you're out of childhood you're old enough to know better.
    - does mean well. to an extent.
    - for better or for worse, science above most all else.
    - if you get literally nothing else out of this, then 'for someone described as chilly, sure is lacking in actual chill outside of the literal'

HISTORY: iiiii don't know what i'm doing
    - family of vaguely northern european descent, moved over to japan either during parent generation or the one before it because it's where a lot of the big things were going down. now either naturalized or under permanent resident status, or something like that.
    - research/scientifically oriented family, hoo boy. one parent had some vaguely defined telekinesis quirk, the other some vaguely defined cryokinetic one.
    - burned himself pretty badly experimenting with his quirk when he was younger. somewhat of an aversion to open flame or other large sources of heat since, though it doesn't stop him from doing his job.
    - a fair background in biology + chemistry; decent grounding in medicine + physiology, could probably provide emergency medical support when no one better's around to do it
    - freelancer/ independent contractor called in for special tech requests? head of his own support company? part of UA support staff? a teacher??? (even though it doesn't seem like you guys really need more teachers)
    - does part-time? hero work when appropriate in addition to general R&D type stuff because more funding for his own personal experiments/research. what are these personal experiments/research? wouldn't we all like to know . . .
    - has a reputation for very good work, he's brilliant at what he does, just. shame about the personality
    - if he's got his own support company he definitely doesn't handle his own pr lmao
    - actually yeah probably isn't head of anything since that involves too much bureaucracy and he just likes to do the work, dammit. that or he delegates a lot and lets his reputation do the talking, as far as publicity goes...
    - HOW DID HIS SOFT SPOT FOR CHILDREN DEVELOP/MANIFEST WITHOUT IENZO, WE DON'T KNOW

QUIRK: drn u todoroki 4 existing and making us poor ice type players try to figure out something that isn't too similar, why can't we just say 'ice happens, the end'
    Flash Frost/Diamond Dust
    - two part emission type quirk based on parts from both of his parents
    - capable of drawing heat energy out of substances within his vicinity. conservation of energy exists though, and it has to be drawn towards him; he cannot pull heat away from himself and shunt it anywhere else with his quirk (this is how he ended up burning himself when younger)
    - the other part of the quirk is basically summed up as 'limited telekinetic ability lets him manipulate substances of sufficiently low temperature.' too high and it just doesn't work anymore. this does take some amount of constant focus; not like, at exclusion of all else or anything, but a sudden distraction can disrupt it.
    - distance for active telekinetic control is probably something like within 10 meters or something, anything further is more just 'i flung the icewater as hard as i could while it was still within range and the rest was physics'

While it's possible for him to do so, given that it'd take a ton of energy difference to like, freeze the air (or freeze the water vapor in air), since it's going from gaseous to solid state, he tends to carry some amounts of pressurized, supercooled liquids around in smallish secured/insulated containers on his person whenever he gets the feeling he might need to use his quirk. This means he has more readily accessible material to work with (imagine a hot, dry day otherwise! the horror), while minimizing the amount of heat draw he has to do. If he doesn't have any on hand for whatever reason, a go-to is likely something along the lines of freezing tiny ice crystals in the air to again, minimize the amount of heat draw he has to go, while keeping them big and sharp enough to actually do something if say, he flung it all at an opponent. Yay, diamond dust flurries.

He fights relatively defensively when he has to, aiming for incapacitation and/or immobilization. As if to further drive this point home, one of his more major pieces of equipment is a sort of tower shield, made out of a lightweight yet durable material. It's hollow, is the thing, and is also filled with supercooled liquid- which means he can telekinetically maneuver the shield around by way of manipulating the water inside it. Don't ask about the failed prototypes, it's embarrassing. It's designed with release mechanisms on the inside such that he can trigger them by having the water pressure activate them if he needs to in an emergency, which, well, releases the water so that he can have More Potential Ice to work with. If he needs to. It's a balancing act, this, because if too much fluid is released from the shield he loses his ability to use the shield in any way other than just strapping the thing to his arm and doing things the old fashioned way.

(Being able to draw heat energy out of 'substances within his vicinity' technically means that if he really, really wanted to, he could probably directly give someone frostbite... or like, freeze someone's blood... But. He doesn't. For one thing, that's a lot of effort he'd rather not have to expend, insert some bullshit heat transference through intermediary material between substance and Evexen reason here, and two, eurgh.)

COSTUME: I'm not even going to lie, it's probably going to be his lab coat if he ever needs to defend himself or take an active response role (which he does, sometimes, given the nature of his quirk/skillset; disaster response possibly?). Enough pockets on the inside and out for him to keep his convenient water bottles I mean what. It's equipped with a few perks that make life easier, though, like heat sinks and cooling ability to keep him from overheating too quickly when using his quirk. The result I guess is somewhat like being around a refrigerator- some of the air around it is warm, but the inside is cool, blessedly cool. Also, shoes/boots that don't detract from his ability to skate around on the ground level ice he makes if he needs to get around quickly. Because that's a thing he does now, just ice over the floor and skate over it.

THANKS A LOT, TODOROKI FAMILY, GOD.

We probably don't really need more teachers, but we could always use more agencies. Students are gonna leave U.A. eventually - why not have somewhere to go? But don't feel bad if you really want to play in the school, too.

Okay, so a lot of this went over my head and I had to read it a few times, so pardon if you answered this question in here and I just kept missing it.

When he draws the heat to him, what's A) the purpose, and B) what physically happens to his own body with the heat? I'm a little lost on that part, but I do like that it's less a production from his own body and more he needs the environment for it to work.

HAHA this was too long for me to put both in the same post, rip

CHARACTER NAME: Magolor (last... name... what if I was just lazy and made it like, Harukane or some similarly corrupted sounding 'Halcandran')
    CANON: Kirby
    AGE/AU AGE: It is a mystery / 23
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: ??? i'll? come back to this later maybe
OCCUPATION: ??? support... of some sort... I guess.
    PERSONALITY:
    - always functioning at 110%. always
    - easily excitable, perpetually (maybe inappropriately?) cheerful
    - does he actually take anything seriously ever (answer: yes, actually, but you probably don't want a situation to degrade that far)
    - hands will probably permanently be flying around and gesturing animatedly in conversation. be prepared to duck
    - 'high five, low five, all that.' 'thanks for being such a cool dude!'
    - loves friends. does not expect friendship easily, is pleasantly surprised by it whenever it happens
    - leans a bit more on the pragmatic/cynical side of the idealism-realism meter.
    - mischievous and cheeky, prone to pulling pranks or practical jokes when not ribbing people
    - competitive little shit
    - not the best at peopleing; will backpedal like hell if/when stepping on anyone's toes because he doesn't like conflict, it's much easier when everyone gets along
    - idea of doing nice things for friends is 'making them cool shit, like entire theme park obstacle courses' or 'selling them stuff... at a discount. maybe'.
    - oh right did i mention he's a pretty smart guy, well i did now
    - has a habit of downplaying himself. not above deceiving people to get his way... or sometimes just for the hell of it. ('bravo, your help was truly invaluable... now, the time has come for all of this land to bow down to me! ...gotcha, haha! just joking')
    - Very Harmless and Friendly, if Possibly Overeager, Please Do Not Hurt Soft Friend
    - (or rather, things are easier when you come off that way. not quite as harmless as he would let on, but gosh... why would he ever do anything horrible?)
    - when it comes down to it, he's probably a nice and friendly enough guy and not necessarily villain material per se, but he's definitely selfishly motivated first off rather than altruistic, whether it's in his drive to be better, be stronger, do nice things for other people, make friends and allies, or whatever.

    HISTORY:
    - at some point in his history, was probably attacked and injured or something in some big catastrophe, whether natural or villain attack
    - was in a position of helplessness when this happened. hated it.
    - either was already an orphan when this happened or was orphaned by this
    - so he went and sought to find a way to never feel that helpless again. be stronger, be better, be bigger, be not the lesser party, or all else failing, not being a target when shit goes down.
    - ??? still sorting this out. probably went to UA at some point, because Ambition™
    - it would help if i could figure out a concrete specific role, probably

    QUIRK:
    Kinetic Energy Projectiles
    - can manifest/summon balls of, well, energy
    - look like dark indistinct blobs, no well defined edges or solidity to them
    - he can juggle these for no real practical reason other than to look cool.
    - throwable, since, well, projectiles. on impact with surface or object, they transfer whatever kinetic energy they contain to said surface or object, maintaining direction and magnitude.
    - amount of energy any one orb contains can be varied from the equivalent of 'light tap' to 'sprinting full body tackle/body check'
    - has a limited amount of control over whether or not they transfer the full of their energy to whatever they hit; practical result is that he can bounce them off things a few times in exchange for a reduced payoff for each ricochet when they eventually reach their target.
    - technically insubstantial with no mass, so if you get hit by one you're not really going to get the wind knocked out of you on impact or anything, but you are going to be sent flying in whichever direction is appropriate based on vector. getting the wind knocked out of you on impact with a wall or other solid item due to being sent flying, on the other hand, is completely fair game.
    - on a tangentially related note, he's pretty good at billiards.

Energy for these is drawn from his own energy, so he needs to recharge often if using this quirk excessively. Will chow down on basically any sugary sweet high calorie crap to 'refuel' in this case. ...Or chug energy drinks. Given that he's pretty liberal with smaller scale applications of it whenever it's convenient and/or he feels like it, this probably is a common occurrence. This... possibly explains some things about his personality. Cause of death: overdosing on monster and red bull.

    alternatively?

    Now You're Thinking With Portals
    Here and There
    - it is basically like Portal. 2 tears in regular timespace, in one portal and out the other. or see here for a demonstration in Kirby canon, if not familiar with Portal itself.
    - mid-long range at max range? the portals can probably be created within a radius of... 100 meters, but require both some increasing amount of mental concentration the further away they get and either line of sight to where he wants to draw the portal or very good visualization of the intended location otherwise (aka good knowledge of the topography), so after a certain amount of distance isn't super practical to be doing often, or at all if it would be too distracting in a critical situation
    - portals are inexplicably star-shaped and trippy looking. you can't see the destination on the other side, for whatever reason.
    - maybe some sort of (practical) size upper limit on the portal, with larger technically possible but too strenuous to bother with outside of emergencies

It is not always the most applicable of Quirks for villain fighting, unless the villain in question isn't immune to their own form of attack (otherwise, please imagine for hilarity: stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself, stop hi--) but his redirection comes much more in handy in a support capability; open tear one for stray enemy attack or falling debris or incoming danger of some other sort, open tear two to send said incoming danger out in whichever direction he pleases, away from any civilian crowds or other important assets in need of protection.

Arguably if Magolor were more trained in hand to hand, he could capitalize on that short term 'speed,' or maneuverability rather, to evade and attack from unexpected angles and such if he used his own short range portals to navigate a fight, but he's... not. He's definitely no Aizawa, when it comes to mundane combat prowess, and is more oriented towards a mid-range fight, if any. Or if the villain will fall for running headlong into one portal, then coming out the other face first into a wall.

You can track which portal he may have opened or closed by watching his hands- if he summoned a portal with the left, he will have to use the left to dismiss it, and if it is still up, then Magolor cannot create another portal with that hand, effectively limiting him to two existing portals at any time. An observant opponent can therefore tell which portals are still up, and what directions they still need to be wary of as far as say, their own incoming projectiles go... or just get to the point and you know, stop him from summoning or dismissing portals altogether if they immobilize his hands.

I could go with either quirk, but the main concern I have with this particular Quirk is that it feels a little awkwardly like Kurogiri's?

COSTUME: Iiiii don't know! He's some sort of supportish engineer/technician type that can take a more active role sometimes in heroic business, but pro heroing probably isn't his day job. Whatever it is, it probably has sleeves or gloves that benefit him in disguising whatever hand movements he makes when actively using either of his potential quirks. Alternatively, this humanized design for his regular form (first two images).
    explodokills: (fuck off peace out)

    [personal profile] explodokills 2017-08-06 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
WHEEZES my greatest love was drawing a humanized version of this dude myself. I love the version you're using........

    ........anyway.

This dooooooes remind me of Kurogiri's. That'd be the downside. But Kurogiri's has a far larger range than this does. Maybe it can be a portal that only works if the place in question is visible to Magolor. Maybe that makes it helpful to have a support item that allows him to zoom in on another location if requiring an escape. Kurogiri doesn't have that particular limitation, so you could just play it like that if you really wanna roll with portals. I actually like this one as it seems easier for RP purposes

but the other seems fine as is, too. I'm down with seeing him trying to chug 2 monsters at once, the little shit.

Still working on icons but I can already post this!

    CHARACTER NAME: Sir Ardem Sacrid
    CANON: Phantasy Star Online 2
    AGE/AU AGE: ??? (but super old)/somewhere in mid 20s
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Hermes Trismegistus
OCCUPATION: Just a charming young gentleman... okay, villain.
    PERSONALITY:
-A cultured and charismatic fellow, friendly, nice and genuinely respectful of others. Impressed by those who push against their own limitations.
-Actually has a huge god complex, thinks he's the incarnation of Merlin, Abe no Seimei, Paracelsus, etc. In canon he actually was all these people, it's complicated.
-Believes it's his duty to evolve humanity into something greater, for happiness of all (whether they want to be evolved or not doesn't really matter). He considers Quirks to be the key to this evolution, especially his own peculiar Quirk.
-Doesn't like to act directly, prefers to use minions, allies or manipulate others to do his bidding. He's a bit of a stealth villain, who won't reveal himself if he can help it. That means Ardem's plans work rather slowly but he's patient.
-Actually a really good team player, and to his underlings a good boss. Appreciates good effort, rewards accomplishments, forgives mistakes. Won't backstab you for no reason - unless it's a part of his plans, in which case yes, he'll totally backstab you. But he'll feel regret because of it, so it's okay?
HISTORY: There's some pretty big changes from canon here, since Plus Ultra is an AU and all. Ardem is a young nobleman from the UK, but lived most of his life in the US, he's also the leader of Earth Guide. Earth Guide is technically a corporation that has several smaller companies under itself (make sure to visit their resort in Vegas!), but it mostly plays the role of a neutral third party in various big business deals. Its actual goal though is to exert political and economic pressure on others to lead humanity towards progress and whatever they think is the best for it - only trusted Earth Guide members know about it, everyone else thinks it's just a corporation with a funny name.
Most of Ardem's power was centralized in America but recent crackdowns meant Earth Guide has to lie low there before its activities get discovered. On the other hand he heard that Quirk-enhancing drugs somehow made their way from the US to Japan, and since the latter country is in a big turmoil right now, moving there is a great opportunity to further his plans. So Earth Guide started to deal with business in Japan, becoming more prominent: while at the same time, its more... covert activities are already beginning. For now Ardem is looking for dependable allies, but he already is planning possible future steps.
    QUIRK: Apotheosis
It's a rare transformation-type Quirk that affects others. For it to work, the Quirk's target must not resist and has to accept the Quirk's effect willingly - though they don't have to know the full extent of what that entails.
The target undergoes a transformation, one with no visible physical changes (with one exception). Their body becomes optimized and starts to operate at peak physical efficiency, which means they are much stronger, faster and resistant to pain than normal people, because all the safety measures built in a human body to make sure you don't hurt yourself by straining too much don't apply anymore. As a side effect they burn energy stored in their body very quickly, the emission visible in the form of angelic energy wings. It's possible these wings allow the target to fly, but if that's too overpowered then the wings are there just for aesthetic purposes. Anyway this means the transformation can't be maintained too long, if it's more than several hours then the target may suffer from severe malnutrition or even die.
So there's a price to pay for the Quirk's effects, but the greatest is that the target is under Ardem's control - there's a mental link and he can use it to issue orders, which the target will obey to the best of their ability. He likes to use it to play mastermind, ordering minions from the shadows and even making them talk in his name while his identity remains undiscovered.
The Quirk can affect multiple people at once but there's a side effect: the more targets Ardem has to work with simultaneously, the weaker his Quirk's effect is. This is both regarding the enhancement of the targets and the mind control. So while one or two targets might become very powerful fighters even without any additional Quirks of their own, if Ardem has to control like two dozen at once, they're basically smallfry. Likewise, a few targets will be under his strong control and can cooperate like they have a hivemind, but many will be uncoordinated, only follow general, simple commands (go somewhere, guard a place, etc) and can even resist Ardem's orders to some extent if they don't agree with them.
The Quirk's effect isn't permanent and dissipates if the target is unconscious, dead, or if Ardem dismisses it willingly. Since it has some pretty obvious limitations, he wants to find ways how to further enhance it. Also, he never tried using it on himself - but should he try, two things are for certain. One is that he'd become extremely powerful in both mind and body. Two, is that he'd lose any control of himself. So he's not willing to try any time soon.
COSTUME: Ardem doesn't believe in costumes. He believes in classy white suits. If he has to get his hands dirty, he's not above using a rapier to stab people in melee. He's pretty good with it too.

This is a pretty solid quirk, I think! I think maybe the angel wings could just be an aesthetic... flying might be a bit much, but it could at least be a common trend enough for someone to squint at it suspiciously and notice shit is going down.

But I can see this working for the gullible. HAVE MORE POWER, etc.

hi i played rin hoshizora for like four seconds at the beginning of the game

    CHARACTER NAME: Irina Akulov
    CANON: Xenoblade Chronicles X
    AGE/AU AGE: 27
    HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Psycorruptor
OCCUPATION: pro hero / UA staff (combat teacher or idk)
    PERSONALITY:

Kind of a jerk!!! Upon first impressions. She can be somewhat cold and dismissive, but Irina’s a true altruist at heart and always puts the well-being of others above all else. Once she warms up to someone she’s considerably friendlier and even hot-headed at times, though it takes a while to befriend her since she’s rather distant, emotionally.

She’s got some deep-seated issues and had suffered (or still suffers from) depression, leading to occasionally reckless behavior that borders on suicidal. Irina isn’t one to talk about her problems since she’s always so concerned about others, though, and she just isn’t the type to air out her feelings like that. She’s still grieving the death of her brother which was the root cause of her depression.

Irina excuses her reckless and rash tactics in battle by saying that it’s better to go headfirst into things than to hesitate and potentially risk losing an opportunity. In her mind, her cautiousness is what cost her those few precious seconds of getting to her brother in time before his death. It’s also indicative of her personal issues and lack of self-worth; she doesn’t care if she gets hurt and rationalizes that as long as she knows she went beyond her best, she can go down with no regrets. However, she still works well with others and won’t let her own reckless behavior jeopardize her teammates.

She believes in the worth of all human lives, even criminals, and will avoid killing anyone if she can help it. Her strong conviction and steady sense of justice is what led her to become a hero.

Also she likes animals but animals seem to hate her RIP she just wants to pet a cute doggo :(

    HISTORY:

    - born somewhere in Russia.
    - her mother died shortly after the birth of her younger brother, Leon, when Irina was just 3 years old.
    - their father was alcoholic and cared little for the two. they lived in poverty.
    - as soon as they could, Irina and Leon left their father and set out to try to live by themselves on the streets. they were just teens.
    - they joined some sketchy militant “Hero” org, where they were trained in combat and Quirk usage.
    - not quite agreeing with the political climate at the time (idk how this would be in the BNHA universe) they eventually made their way out and southeast to Japan. Irina was only 20 and Leon was 17.
    - they were almost immediately picked up by a young and upcoming hero (Elma) as sidekicks for her growing agency. it was the first time Irina felt real affection for someone other than her brother. tho basically it was hero worship.
    - one year after they joined, Leon was killed by a villain. the media reported this as a tragedy, blaming the villain (who was caught afterwards). Irina blamed herself for being unable to act quickly enough.
    - Elma told Irina to reconsider her path in life after one too many missions where Irina nearly got herself killed. under Elma’s orders she reluctantly left the agency. she did some non-hero odd jobs, went through a very short-lived stint as a crime-fighting vigilante, tried to make Elma take her back, considered “settling” in the police force, then finally decided to become a proper hero.
    - so Irina became Psycorruptor at the age of 23. she’s apparently really popular with the adult male demographic for some reason, but she doesn’t seem very happy about that. she works a lot with Elma too, though Elma specializes in search and rescue and Irina prefers crime fighting.
    - after a few years she applied to become a teacher at UA i guess! maybe she was just feeling too restless. or Elma told her to. who knows.

    QUIRK:

if two quirks isn’t ok i’ll just go with Brainjack!!

BRAINJACK: Irina can remotely control a person’s body when her saliva comes in contact with their blood. It’s gross. She doesn’t like her Quirk very much, but hey.
    — The person retains consciousness but all independent motor functions are lost. Maybe “Bodyjack” would be a better descriptor, but this is just what Irina calls it.
    — Only one person can be controlled at a time, up to 30 seconds.
    — Irina fights with a knife… and of course, the blade is coated in her spit. The effect is instantaneous the moment the spit makes contact with blood.
    — Irina is capable of fighting on her own when she’s controlling someone (she doesn’t need to stand still or anything). She was trained well during her time in Russia, but apparently she really can’t control more than one person or extend the duration of the Brainjack effect.
    – She can effortlessly make her victim do whatever she wants, whether it’s attacking their own allies or just standing in one spot. Someone could theoretically break free of her Brainjack through sheer strength alone, but it hasn’t happened yet.
    — It’s also possible to break the effect by knocking Irina out. She can cut the effect short herself if she chooses to.

OVERDRIVE: When Irina’s heartrate hits 200 BPM, she can enter an “Overdrive Mode” that greatly enhances her strength, speed, time perception, and shuts off all her pain receptors (but if she gets hurt during Overdrive she’ll definitely feel it afterwards). It’s like a superhuman burst, basically, but it only lasts 30 seconds. There’s also a mandatory five minute minimum cooldown after each Overdrive due to exhaustion; if she tries to prolong the effect or do it too many times, she risks a heart attack. This Quirk is more of a last resort trump card kind of deal; Irina’s a skilled fighter and can hold her own well enough with Brainjack that she typically doesn’t even need to use Overdrive.

Brainjack and Overdrive cancel each other out for some reason, so she can’t use both at the same time. Using Overdrive also cancels any Brainjack currently in effect.

COSTUME: her canon uniform (top left) with the addition of a helmet. Her knife is specially made so that she doesn’t need to lick the blade (gross!!), it can coat itself with a removable vial of spit inside the hilt, and the pouches on her vest are filled with extra spit vials and misc medical supplies.

hardass teachers and strong women pls give

ANYWAY I can understand why you have those two quirks in mind working together! she can only control one person at a time, so if she's ganged up on she can cancel everything and take the overdrive route— at the same time, I can also see how only going with one or the other would be better suited, especially if she's a skilled fighter and hardly even uses overdrive; it runs the risk of getting shelved, right? I think I'll wait on the mod's final decision, but her first quirk sounds pretty neat, especially if she has to bite someone aaahaha

please come tho beat some students up

ubersaw: and as we know it isn't me (one of us is wrong here)

    [personal profile] ubersaw 2017-08-08 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
HELLO i couldn't get this idea out of my head and so here i am

CHARACTER NAME: Dr. Ludwig. What's his first name? He'll give you a different one every time you ask.
    CANON: Team Fortress 2.
AGE/AU AGE: He's probably in his mid 50s, and still spry for an old guy.
HERO/VILLAIN ALIAS: Medic. Creative, he knows!
OCCUPATION: Pro hero/support. The 'pro' is used loosely here. (Maybe also a science/human a&p teacher??)
    PERSONALITY:
    - First, imagine your standard mad scientist. Once you've got that, throw in a German accent, make him a whole hell of a lot less serious, and add in a love for birds. With all that in mind, you're already pretty close to Medic.
    - He doesn't tend to take things seriously, even if they really should be-- he gets bored easily, and tends to throw in little challenges to make sure he can keep his attention on things that don't quite capture his focus. He makes his own fun, even if the end result is somewhat less efficient.
    - Absolutely a drama queen. Histrionics are quite likely, although whether he's doing it to simply fill the time or what is anyone's guess.
    - He's a very, very private person, and that comes with a whole lot of being super avoidant when people try to get personal info out of him. While he loves the attention, he doesn't love people trying to stick their noses into his business. Being dodgy about himself means that he has a golden opportunity to either embellish the truth or completely mislead people, and both options sound like fun to him.
    - His sense of professionalism is...honestly not one at all. He does things how he knows works, and if it's off the wall or not strictly following regulations, that's fine. Even if he's doing something of the utmost importance, he'll treat it with the same levity he does everything else; he has a tendency to make things far more casual than some would like, and he's nowhere near a stickler for the rules or standard procedure. Fast and loose is the way to go, but he can be coerced into sticking to the book. He'll just gripe the whole time.
    - While Medic's an over-the-top goofball, he's got a sharp mind, and the gears are always turning. He doesn't have much of an off switch, simply by virtue of how he works; he's constantly looking for the next breakthrough, and there's no such thing as downtime for him. As such, he's prone to overworking himself, pulling all-nighters without a second thought. He cares little for the amount of stress he places on himself as long as it gets results.
    - He's curious as hell about everything, and truly loves figuring out what makes things tick. He's the kind of person that takes things apart just to try and put them back together, although not without some enhancements he's added-- he does everything he can to improve what's around him, be it people, gear, or otherwise. Some of his suggestions are just...not feasible or mildly concerning. Is he serious? Who even knows.
    - On the subject of his sense of humor, it's kind of a mess. While he laughs at his own jokes (eventually), there's usually a solid ten seconds in which it's really not clear if he's joking. He has a fondness for the morbid, awful puns, and what's basically dad jokes-- sometimes, all of this comes together in what is truly just the worst. Expect plenty of snark, too.
    - If he likes you, you'll know it. He's definitely biased toward his favorite people, but he holds them to much higher standards than the rest; on the other side of the coin, those that have disappointed him or failed to live up to expectations are treated rather coldly until they redeem themselves, although that process is difficult. If he just outright hates you, that's incredibly obvious. He holds grudges, and he's known for being the pinnacle of petty. It's an art form that he's mastered.
    - Medic is a perfectionist, and he won't accept second-rate effort from those that he works with. If he's putting in 110%, he's not going to tolerate somebody else coasting by on 60%.
    - At his worst, he's short-tempered, malicious for the sake of it, selfish, and bitingly sarcastic. Medic is vicious in his criticism, and can easily go too far with it without much thought; he has to work to rein himself in, although whether or not he's willing to do so is entirely dependent on how frustrated he is.
    - He's definitely got an ego. Flattery will, in fact, get you everywhere, but don't expect to make it through dealing with him on that alone. You'll have to show him some actual skill in order to earn his respect, which comes with plenty of perks when earned.

    HISTORY:
    - Originally from Stuttgart, Germany; his mother was a surgeon, and his father was head nurse for one of the local hospitals. Early life wasn't terribly eventful, largely owing to the fact that his parents were usually working-- he was left to his own devices outside of school, although he often wound up at the hospital his father worked at. His family had a lot of medical professionals, and it was more or less expected that he'd follow the same path. He did, sure, but not quite how they'd imagined, he thinks.
    - Very quickly developed an interest in quirks and how they work, and studying them became the focus of his career later on when he earned his medical license. Somewhere along the way, he lost it, although he's prepared a number of different 'explanations' that are all varying levels of sinister in order to make himself sound cooler. Just in case! (In actuality, he just got too caught up in his studies and forgot to get it renewed-- by the time he was finished, it had been long enough to make the cost higher than he'd like to pay. He's kind of cheap.)
    - After that, he instead went and got himself a hero license, reasoning that the best place to learn more about powerful quirks and how they work was in action on the streets. He's been operating as a support hero for a few years, gathering data and doing his research in the field. As for the info he's accumulated, he's worked closely with a variety of development studios to put as much of it as is possible to good use. He's earned himself a bit of a reputation for how he implements his research-- while it's at times extreme or eccentric, he does genuinely have good ideas.
    - He's had a particular interest in All Might for a while, and upon learning that the Symbol of Peace had taken up a teaching position at UA, decided to swing by to see if he could get some up close and personal information. Thus far, it hasn't worked out in his favor, but that doesn't stop him from trying! He's gotten to observe other high-ranked heroes in the meantime, so it hasn't been a loss. He's still working on his Japanese, though.
    - The uptick in villain activity's really only given him more of a reason to stick around; it's been a long time since he was last able to observe this sort of phenomenon, and the artificial humans in particular have caught his attention. Japan's situation affords him a unique environment to both research and apply his theories, and he sees no reason why he shouldn't be helpful in order to return the favor.
    - and from there i have no idea.

    QUIRK:
    Ubercharge / Kritzkrieg
    - For eight seconds, he can either make someone (and himself) invulnerable with his Ubercharge, or boost a single person's damage output by a significant amount with Kritzkrieg. He can't do both at the same time, and he has to stay in physical contact with his target (he prefers to call them patients simply because it sounds better) for the full eight seconds-- being separated ends the effect on the other person, but if he's able to get a hold of them again, it will resume for the remainder of the time he's got left. He can't boost his own damage, unfortunately, and he tends to use that aspect of his quirk a good deal less than good ol' invincibility.
    - He has to wait in-between uses, as his quirk is powered by storing (kinetic? something to do w/ the electrical impulses made by the heart?? still thinking.) energy and requires some time to build up enough juice for the full eight seconds. While he's worked his endurance and tolerance levels up to where the aftermath of his quirk doesn't affect him too much, once it wears off of his patient, it feels something like a caffeine crash on steroids, particularly if it's the first time they've experienced it.
    - Medic really only has a general sense of how much 'charge' he has-- he can't activate his quirk unless he's had time to store enough energy, which takes a bit of guesswork and sheer luck to figure out. Knocking him unconscious releases the charge he's got stored, and he has to build it up again from there.
    - His invincibility doesn't heal wounds sustained prior to its activation, but it numbs the pain for the duration; after it's worn off, though, you're definitely going to feel it.
    - Switching patients gives the effect to both for half a second before it wears off on the first patient. He hates doing this, though, as the transfer wastes considerably more of his charge.
    - If he tries Ubercharging/Kritzkrieg...ing the same patient more than once every four hours, it can send them into cardiac arrest due to the sheer amount of stress placed on the body. It's a bad idea, although people who've put a lot of work into endurance training might be able to handle more.
    - At low charge, he can sort of act as a makeshift defibrillator, but it's...really not pleasant for anyone involved. Everybody gets electrocuted!
    - This is about what it looks like when he's hit invulnerability on someone. It's a little hard to miss, which is probably for the best!
(Debating cutting the Kritzkrieg portion, tbh. i'm also thinking about maybe setting him up with a support item that lets him Ubercharge people at a limited range, but maybe at the cost of some of his charge time?)

COSTUME: This, but without the gun-looking thing. He's known to mix it up. A lot. you can't fight crime if you ain't cute, and he's got a full wardrobe ready to go.
